Is it worth getting? I haven't played any other titles but seems to have great reviews on steam and the animations look nice.

It's the worst of the three, but not a bad game.

I already thought default 1 wasn't particularly good, so I guess I should skip it if somehow they made an even worse game

Animation's look great, desu. I've been looking for a new turn based rpg, and it seems comfy AF.

I liked the first game but THAT part made me so tired of the gameplay that I gave up early on in Second. Is 2 a good way of returning to the series with a fresh mindset or should I not bother?

I know they are chibis, but somehow they aren't, the esthetic fits well, it like an actual well made chibi design.

It's bland as all hell

The story reads like an overview and the combat system did not weather the shift to a speed-based turn system very well. I beat the game thinking there might have been some sort of revelation like in 1 or an alternate route like in Second. But no. The game just plods along and nothing really evolves. The only amusing thing was how the end of the game is basically a series of bad ends. You play the ending, things get fucked, and then you return to the past now to try something else.

Everything is surface level. Party interaction is scaled back. Late game bosses get annoying because they start getting free turns/BP in response to you doing basically anything whereas they used to punish you only for certain actions.

My favorite part of the plot is when you hear fairies exist very far into the game in a town of fairy racists only for one of your partymembers to be revealed as one like 10 minutes later in a cartoonish parody of the Salem witch trials and also the existence of fairies and fairy racism is the entire foundation of the plot.

I actually liked Second for what it was but if that invalidates my opinion, be my guest.

I wanted to like 2 but I just couldn't and that desire to like it is why I finished it at all. That and Elvis. I like Elvis. He was cool.

Be my guest. I finished it so it wasn't THAT painful. I think Ar Tonelico 3 was much harder for me to finish even though I love that series far more, but I did think BD2 was a letdown

Yes, it is good. If they put the 1 remaster on Steam in the future, you should play that too.

There are actual voice lines?! HOLY SHIT
The art style looks great too, they definitely aren't chibis, but I can see how people might think that.

The whole game has a cool, dreamy vibe to it.
I don't like how restrictive the combat system feels compared to the first two games though.

Knowing Squareenix, they'll wait another 10 years before giving us another one, despite it being successful.

A lot of bosses feel like you are supposed to make a hyper specific autism squad just for them.
Joke's on them though because I just play a proper balance team and brute force them.
