The story reads like an overview and the combat system did not weather the shift to a speed-based turn system very well. I beat the game thinking there might have been some sort of revelation like in 1 or an alternate route like in Second. But no. The game just plods along and nothing really evolves. The only amusing thing was how the end of the game is basically a series of bad ends. You play the ending, things get fucked, and then you return to the past now to try something else.
Everything is surface level. Party interaction is scaled back. Late game bosses get annoying because they start getting free turns/BP in response to you doing basically anything whereas they used to punish you only for certain actions.
My favorite part of the plot is when you hear fairies exist very far into the game in a town of fairy racists only for one of your partymembers to be revealed as one like 10 minutes later in a cartoonish parody of the Salem witch trials and also the existence of fairies and fairy racism is the entire foundation of the plot.
>>714647450I actually liked Second for what it was but if that invalidates my opinion, be my guest.
I wanted to like 2 but I just couldn't and that desire to like it is why I finished it at all. That and Elvis. I like Elvis. He was cool.
