There was a plan, sadly it only survived as concept arts and other texts in the free DLC that only unlocked AFTER you beat the game

I remember early trailers for Lair for ps3 made it look like it was some sort of fantasy dragon simulator where you battled for supremacy and such as a proper dragon. But the final game was just Rogue Squadron with dragons, and was a mostly human focused story with a rider main character and the dragon was just a vehicle.

In Kangaroo Jack's defense, it's more of they got screwed over by executive meddling. It was originally supposed to be an R-rated, crime movie with some dark humor. But it didn't go so well with test screenings with the test audience only liking an early scene with some kangaroos. That and because Snow Dogs was sort of popular at the time, they basically had to scrap everything and reshoot and edit it into a family comedy and added the CGI kangaroo.

I was just out of high school when I saw the PS3 e3 tech demo, and remember thinking "maybe adult life won't suck after all"
Then almost 2 whole generations of nothing.
Then we finally see something, and a lot of the PR indicated that it was an honest remake, although deep down I was skeptical after seeing the launch trailer
Then the leaks came out, and I saw everything this was, and more or less knew how it was going to be.
Years later, after rebirth proving my hunch 100% on the money, and seeing all the backpedaling, calling this endeavor a "reimagining, not a remake", I found myself irreversibly disillusioned.
