Couldn't beat it the first time because of the 5 minute area loading and turn based mode taking 30-60 seconds for every enemy action in act 5 during the release month. Finished it multiple times since then, but that first playthrough is still unfinished.

I honestly just get bored, same with Kingmaker.

It started with the character builder. It had like 40 options to choose from while I just wanted to build a mage blasting shit. Then it turned out that wizards don't really blast shit but are support units who dump grease on the floor so I picked a kineticist. Then it tur ed out that those have like 3 extra resources to manage. Then I leveled up and my options got exponentially bigger for each character because you can put points in whatever class you want and the autobuild apparently sucks. Then I got to move around the map and it for sme reason turned into HoMM . But I pushed past that and then I saved the castle and I had to manage that castle and I dropped it.
It really feels like the game actively doesn't want me to play the actual game which is a shame because I like the setting so far and Ember a cute.

This game is 8/10 on first playthrough through the first two acts, 6/10 through the latter acts, and 1/10 on every consecutive playthrough, after you realize that ever character plays the exact fucking same depending on whether you're melee, ranged or magic (at least magic has some semblance of variety ig), all these bazillion archetypes don't add anything of value. Acts 1 through 4 (A.K.A. 90% of the game) are always the same story-wise regardless of the mythic path you choose, save one quest line.
It's a number crunching sim for low functioning autists, there's barely any role-playing in this game.

I was playing azata and took the option to destroy the ivory labyrinth when I saw it instead of going all the way back to talk to Hepzamirah's ghost, on another run I forgot to save Suture from the flesh market. Missing flags for ascension is so common that there's a whole guide of console commands to hit any you forgot. You can actually still do most of the ascension stuff even on the legend path, but when meeting her in the secret section of her lab Areelu gets all pissy and tells you to fuck off and die.

The game is either way too hard on normal, or way too easy on casual.

Just play BG1/2/ToB+ Ascension with Tactics remix, add Anthology tweaks+ EEex+ spell UI for modern quality of life if u want cRPG with challenging tactical combat

I didn't 600 hours give or take, it's a fun game for build autism.
still think real time with pause sucks though and the game is unplayable without an autobuff mod.

I beat it once but it was a slog that dragged on for too long. I'll probably never play it again. I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I played on normal difficulty instead of core. The writing was also subpar and I didn't like any of the companions except for the tiefling rogue.

I didn't think the battles were too difficult on core. What annoyed me the most were the constant stat drains and such. I was already spamming buffs before every fight. With the debuffs, I was constantly spamming restoration spells after every battle, too. It was such a goddamn slog and not very fun.

The party members are mostly ass. The half-lizard guy is the epitome of bland, so is the dindu paladin. The spider girl might have been better, but she left at the start and haven't seen her since. The reddit fox is one of the unfunniest things I have ever seen. The zesty priest (the black one, not the blonde party elf) is lame and gay.

The rest are fine, I guess, but nothing special. I only really liked Regill and Camellia.

It's really an issue only in the first playthrough and only if you don't 'figure it out' in time. Once you've internalized how and where you need to rotate it to progress, it's a complete non-issue
But I'd say it could also be definitely done without. As a compromise, maybe even have a check in the options to have a static map in the Abyss with everything alligned without the need for rotating camera or only have it enabled for the puzzles

Core is what people that play P&P would pick by default. The game doesn't feel balanced around that when it should be like BG1 and 2 are.

I liked the lowstakes adventure of Kingmaker, but prefer the WotR setting as a crusade against demons.

Gameplay wise WotR is just Kingmaker but polished

WotR had the better companions, like Linzi, Valeria, Jethal, and the twins were the only companions I could tolerate.

If you're familiar with the pen and paper version you should be able to build a party that doesn't need to buff that much on core. I got introduced to pathfinder through these games and I did fine. Don't get me wrong, Core was more difficult than normal and there were hard parts, but I never felt like a bot. To me it feels like people picking a hard difficulty they don't know how to deal with because they're "gamers" and then complaining about it.

I know Owlcat won't be doing another Pathfinder game, but I'd like another lowstakes adventure

well you spam restoration yes, but on high-levels there are healing spell that restoring all that negative stats.

It's not bad for the first 100 hours but by the end of the game, I was so sick of the game that I'll never replay it. A game like this should feel very replayable due to how many branching paths there are but I don't want to suffer through the actual game again. The HoMM clone minigame added to the tedium, too. There are so many annoying and tedious bits to the game that actively made me not want to play it.

i mean it's not like they care, pathfinder games both was released in raw state, lots of things not worked, not of things worked more than needed, like some buff could give you x3 x5 more stats than it should. same with DLC modules, dlc was raw too, and they patched it little by little. roguelike dlc still has some bugs.

Oracle, slayer, generally anything self sufficient. Your base class doesn't matter super much though if pick angel or lich first though since you can keep the spells even after going lich and crush the hell out of encounters with 6x storm of justice

If I'm undertanding this correctly combat is in real time, but you can pause to give individual commands?

Seems like it will get tedious to micro manage an entire party like that, when it's turn based you atleast don't have to think about a character once you've spent their actions.

Your character has a cooldown at the start of the fight before they take first action, which is the initiative, or the "real time version of it"

I just don't like bad game design and bad level design, so while i tolerated a lot of it, when i reached Act 4 i felt the slog and chore factor increased by 500% so i dropped it.
If the writing was so good i may have pushed myself but honestly the writing wasn't impressive either, not to hold it against this game in particular because the writing in most games is just average or serviceable, its rare to find top tier writing which is why most game lean on game design and other things like immersion, this had nothing though.

Pathfinder: WotR is a character builder. That's it, that's the entire appeal of the game. The companions are lackluster and nonsensical, the setting even moreso, the campaign just a power fantasy that actively hands the retard ball to everyone around your protagonist to make your PC feel "special", and the combat might as well be a cookie clicker for your buff spells, followed by an autobattler with how non existent any tactics or strategy are in the game.

The ENTIRE reason people like this game is because they find it enjoyable to build a powerful character, get the math optimized correctly, and watch their little creation utterly demolish everything in its path. If you do not enjoy doing this, and want something more out of a CRPG, you will not enjoy this game. These are the facts and the reality of the matter. Anyone claiming otherwise is a lying, filthy shill and should be treated as such. Play and enjoy the game if you want, but don't pretend it's anything more than what it is.
