So the gist is:
Actual god is some tree that creates live with a fixed purpose. Whenever a creature outlived that purpose or just too sad, it returns to the tree and gets reincarnated into something new without any memories.
The brother gods were the first and given the purpose to create life, so they did until they got bored. But they decided to fuck off from tree god and went to create world as known.
At some point some human fell into the original world, got back and wrote Alice in Wonderland. RWBY, Jaune and Neo also fall down into tree world after V8, but Jaune arives years early. All alone and traumatized he ends up projecting hard onto some paper creatures, that all attempt to kill themselves so they can be reborn by the tree. He stops their multiple attempts each day, which keeps him busy for 10+ years until RWBY arrives. That way he could be part of the story of that random human and Weiss had a crush on the fictional representation of Jaune.
The main plot of V9 is Ruby being sad about failing to save Atlas, so when she learns about the tree reincarnation she attempts to kill herself and turn into her mother. Neo is out for revenge because she's an idiot, in the end she commits suicide by magic tree. Very coneniently she's put into a stasis next to the portal back to Remnant, whith the power to kill immortals she gained in tree world.
There's also a magical storm that forces Yang and Blake to hook up.
