Someone really needs to steal this game's concept and make an actual finished game out of it

The problem is metagaming, the goal of the game is incompatible with it. You are meant to take things slowly, gather clues, trail people for hours and just keep watch. When all you are doing is closing cases in ten minutes because you were overly efficient the game loses its charm.

The point is that it could be anyone in the city. Writing out detailed stories would be nice the first time but the game is made with the intention to play over and over.
It shows a good proof of concept and does the detective stuff like looking for fingerprints, finding paper trails and even retracing footsteps far better than other games.

Actually outside of this and LA Noir, is there any other recommended detective games?

Then don't use it.
It's a lite Cyberpunk setting which is synonymous with doing stuff to your body that under current views should make people uncomfortable.

There is no finished game to be made here
You've hit the limit of procedural gameplay
Its not engaging as anyone with a functioning brain will map out the most optimal solutions and stick with them making all the variations feel the same.

Not saying this game did it well, but the entire point of this game was that you have an entire small city, full of NPCs, any of which could get murk'd by any one other, leaving behind organic clues that you have to unravel to find the culprit. It's one of the very few games where random generation is an actual integral part of the core philosophy of the game, not just a dumb marketing gimmick. Sadly, as clear from the Anons reactions in this thread, they didn't quite manage to make it good.

The game is as finished as it can be. It's pretty much just an emergent gameplay/emergent narrative simulator. You're supposed to make your own story, your own approach, your own gameplay. Playing it efficiently or optimally is missing the point and will leave you disappointed.

You are retarded. How is it a fault to include something in a role playing detective game, that people identify as in real life? I might as well say because I'm blonde and blue eyed, that it's a mistake to offer red hair options. You're just a massive faggot who wants games to only pander to you specifically, and you're so fucking retarded that you started seeing games who do not pander to your extremely specific desires as "flawed". You're the video game equivalent of a fucking Karen walking into a tobacco shop, screeching at randoms that they shouldn't be buying tobacco because it makes her cough. Nobody gives a fuck about your personal sensitivies nigger, not pandering to you is not a flaw in the game. I hope the next game you play removes whatever option you wanted to pick just out of spite.

Then it isn't finished.
If engaging with a game's mechanics makes it worse then it needs a severe redesign.

what he should have done is a way to handcraft a scenario or a way to save a generated scenario that happens to be interesting and well made, and a platform to share curated scenarios with others

thats how roguelikeslop should be handled, as a toolbox for people who dont mind wasting time through hundreds of garbage runs, but also a curated platform for people who dont want to deal with the trash and tedium
make some kind of "official" campaign with ten good cases, and you can then make it episodic with new cases every month that the community voted on or whatever, etc

but indie devs are morons

I missed the window to try the demo so I bought the game when it released and refunded it within 20 minutes. Game ran like absolute dogshit as soon as I left my apartment room, and whenever I check back in to see if they improved the performance at all it seems like they haven't.

Yeah you can't use guns without mods. I imagine it's so you can't just go around killing NPCs and effectively make your world barren since they don't respawn or get replaced but idk.

Sure, but it wouldn't be that hard to implement a self-defense parameter as well as make ammo really scarce or something. Something reliable to fall back on when getting attacked is all I wanted, aside from the game to actually run well.
Anonymous No.714679236 [Report]
procedural is fine but 4-5 possible scenarios isnt enough by a magnitude of 10 or more. just a tech demo sandbox at this point.
Anonymous No.714680138 [Report]
>>714678683
It's made by the Roottrees team but unlike Roottrees where the remake is just an improved version with different art and more qol, I'd recommend playing the Type Help original instead of waiting for that remake. The original is just a command-line interface/text adventure where a lot of the appeal comes from making sense of mysterious text fragments, text being your only information and way of interaction, but they're remaking it in the style of a visual novel and from the trailer it's spoonfeeding more than the original and looks less unique as a concept.

What those trannies that are replied to you forgot to mention is that non-binary shit applies to the NPCs. You can be searching for shoe prints of size 8 heels, looking for a woman, and then it turns out your suspect is trans and is actually a man that wears heels. That and the overly homosexual relations in a supposed dystopian universe.
Anonymous No.714682350 [Report]
Fingerprints are too OP in this game
>go to crime scene

>grab victim's address book
>go to each address and scan their door for prints until you get a match
>???

The game is not designed for the NPCs to be killable, even NPCs killing NPCs will eventually break the game. If a shop NPC is killed, you can no longer use that shop. You would think more NPCs would slowly get replaced, but they don't.

Unfortunately, the whole game falls apart if you play for a few hours. You can rest to speed up time, the problem is this doesn't effect NPCs so their schedules get broken. Their schedules get broken and then they get stuck in a loop. The developer had something good and decided to give up instead of ironing things out.
