Overture was when it started going to shit. That's the point where Daisuke decided that That Man wasn't a bad guy and everyone should be friends which is why he made Ariels to just shove all the blame onto. But then there was shit that couldn't be explained away by Ariels so he needed to make Happy Chaos to make sure that Asuka was the bestest nicest boy ever.

Then he made it so Ariels and Happy Chaos weren't actually evil either which makes no sense since he tried to make it so Happy Chaos corrupted Ariels despite Happy Chaos only existing because Ariels was already evil and she turned The Original into Happy Chaos when he tried to stop her.

Everything about Modern Guilty Gear is just trying to whitewash the old games.

Nobody is saying that, read the thread back.
The original "Strive is successful" post was made in response to someone hoping that GG returns to a style like Xrd.
Not only has GG never gone back to a previous style before, but also their biggest success made changes.
It is incredibly unlikely that they will go back to a style that is less popular.
Nobody is saying sales are the only thing that matters, but they do matter.

L the truth is, no GG will ever be as successful as Strive. It was a perfect storm and Strive was effectively the only game in town. That will never happen again.

I just hope that the next game will focus on the aspects of Strive that had the most cultural impact.
