The HD era killed gaming.

>games ran off disc
>games didn't take 8 years to make and a massive budget
>games were about fun instead of copying current thing
>no politics in games
>games relied on a good single player
>no paid online
>no subscription
>consoles were reasonably priced
>couch coop
>no more fun art styles just ugly gritty high polygon count
>games had to be properly optimized
>games weren't all slopified
>controllers didn't die or get drift after 3 months

Gee, if only there was a cottage industry of smaller game developers, that's larger than the old game industry ever was back in the 90's...

I think you're narcing on yourself with some of those points. Gaming wasn't killed, but it'd be at least twice as good with some of those things back.

>games had to be properly optimized
Console games have always had massive fps dips. Megaman X's tutorial level when you beat the bee minibosses for example.
>slopified
I hope you're an underage kid if you're writing like this
>consoles were reasonably priced
They still are. The problem is they have no games.
>no politics in games
Bombing Saddam's scud missiles wasn't political?

Games are doing well.
What's not doing well are the AAAs that cost $400 million and take 10 years to make. And as journalists say, "and that's a good thing".
