I'm on the tail-end of the first one, but yeah the sequels are next in line. I haven't felt this immersed in an FPS in decades. I was kinda saddened to see I couldn't donate to the development team. Someone deserves some money for this.

Yeah it's incredibly impressive, original work. Not sure how partial you are to other doom engine or build engine games but death wish mod for blood has a similar level of quality. Better than base game, though not apocalyptic, just more blood boomer occult shooting

Very nice. I'll be sure to play that once I'm done with the post-apocalyptic feel! Thanks for the good rec Anon.

You can buy the soundtrack for each game at least. That's what I did. Dead Man Walking is a fun short campaign. Afterglow is imo still the best Doom total conversion ever released - I've played it enough that I am gonna hold off on replaying it for a few years tho. Hard Reset was ambitious but flawed. I appreciate the ambition but it needed more time to cook.

Yeah I'll probably buy the soundtrack or something just to show some support.
I just came off playing Halo 3 (the master chief collection version) and it's kinda staggering how far FPS games have regressed. Glad the Doom community is keeping it pure.

not him but I'd wait for 2.0. there was a thread about it a short while ago
as for Ashes, I think 2063 is better than Afterglow. non-linearity doesn't really add much and can't compare to the original's great pacing and strong level design
anyway, Blood, Dusk and Ashes 2063 are the holy trinity of FPS in my book

This is retarded take I see everywhere. Death Wish as it is now is fantastic and 2.0 update is completely different thing from what dev posted in his updates. And it will still take a while to release. Play current version, it's a great experience I take over base Blood any time I want to play it. And if you do play it don't forget custom soundtrack, comes in both midi and CD quality, I prefer midi.

Too cartoony for my taste, I know he had to redraw it because of stolen assets but those ripped assets from build games looked better

This one especially is very monotonous on those wall textures. I know it could be just basic geometry and not a finished product but still, something about those grey walls puts me off

man why does it look worse than current episodes in places. I noticed it in Hard Reset too since it has some new textures, I hated those

>Hard Reset was ambitious but flawed.
Looking back - I think I actually really liked a lot of the map design in Hard Reset. My big issues are the mall, the final map, and I think Michonne really. I think those sections felt way too weak.

Night School - good starting map. Set the tone for the rest of the game. Stealth mechanics - you have to slowly fight your way through the school.
Anderson Homestead - the big issue I feel here was once you got inside the underground complex - their needed to be more payoff to all the buildup.
Outskirts - this is prob the best map in the game. Prob one of the best maps in Ashes. New enemy types. Very spooky/sinister. Good location to explore.
Cordon - this maps stealth section was bugged for the longest time but even bugged I still enjoyed it - but unbugged I think it's one of the more fun bandit maps. The stealth mechanics did work even bugged just the outcome would break if you pressed a button. I think the boss at the end was a let down.
The Green Line - spooky map with some stealth stuff earlier on. I think the fights later were a little too easily cheesable. I do wonder if maybe you were supposed to encounter the final boss here near the end.
The Mall - I think I would have enjoyed this map more if the trailer hadn't of spoiled the new enemy type. And maybe had the new enemy pop up sooner in the game too.
At Death's Door - Ok bandit map and the wendigos are always scary to fight.
Chokaworld - fun joke map - the early lobby fight could use some work tho. More fights spread around. Make the final fight better maybe.
The City - this is a good map. Enjoyable leading the squad through the city and just decimating everything when you are together.
Hard Reset - I think this is too much of a treading of the ending of Ashes 2063 - needed more encounters and the underground bunker needed to be larger. Hammer fight is ok.

Vostyok did a good job getting this functional I think since the furry bailed halfway through.
