I have a PC for that. My ps3 could stay pristine and was sold at a good price.

I did but having to set up a FTP because the console will only read NTFS is kind of a pain in the ass. Might as well just emulate at that point.

I did. The only times I got any use of it were playing DeS, DaS2 Network Test and the GTA 5 leak at blazing fast low 20s frames. Wouldn't recommend it unless you really like to play gimped ports.

I have a PS3, PS4 and Switch but I'm afraid to try hacking of them for fear of fucking up or bricking them. Part of why I got into pc gaming was because piracy was so much easier.

Most console games just run worst on the PS3.
And i emulate the PS3 whenever i have the option.

My hacked PS3 only really serves a purpose in case i decide i feel like playing any of the ratchet and clank games Infamous 1 or 2 or MGS4.
And these games are getting better in emulator every year.

I missed my chance to do it back when the original exploit was found. Didn't want to lose out on online play. Then I proceeded to never play an online game since that point.

I did hack it later when the new browser exploit was found. It's pretty nice downloading games straight off sony's servers.

You need to look up the exploits. AFAIK 3.21 (the Linux removal) is the first one that gave custom firmware.

If you have an old Phat PS3, you can install CFW on it no matter the firmware though. Just needs the exploit to render it open to install the CFW.
