That’s one theory, here’s another;
/v/ is sfw-/b/ (which btw, has fallen out of general relevance and is now surpassed by /v/ as the overall shitposting board regardless) and the existence of so many other vidya specific boards is direct evidence that /v/ is primarily for quarantine purposes so that other boards may be at peace, which they tend to be more than not.

Well I can't make 4chan but for good north western European people only until I graduate college, get a decent job, start a family, then make my own video game so this is the best there is for another decade or two...
