it's actually good in FFX because you can skip nodes so there's actual decision making and also it exists to give the characters set classes while letting dedicated players multiclass by moving to someone elses skill tree. modern skill trees are just a way to backend all the cool parts of your game because you need to be max level to get anything besides +5 to swords when its raining and you're poisoned

Last Epoch allowing customization (skill trees) of your used abilities was pretty neato.

Not a skill tree but a skill bank.

Every single thing for a character is technically available from the first moment of play. You collect points and experience and cash them in as you fit, “skipping over” whatever you want.

The best abilities would obviously be the most expensive, but theoretically if you wanted you could play a bare bones base character and just grind for the ultimate ability straight away. This would take a long time, but less time than it would take you to get it via a skill tree. Trade-off of course being that you still now have nothing else.

sure its faster with leveling gear, but the first time around was such a fucking slog and now the economy is in the shitter anyways
i feel like as a new player using guides is the most efficient way bec of autists theorycrafting everything, but then you end up with every single upgrade costing multiple divs and a 2-3h time investment for a 2% dmg upgrade

PoE2's sucks because it is a bunch of garbage ass notables with downsides to their upsides.
PoE1's is good because it is INTENTIONALLY designed to be about pathing to what notables are good for your build while also balancing life/es and then defense/utility. People think it is complicated, but it is good because it is more about the pathing. Going a slightly longer path to get to core notables to be able to get decent ones near it, or gunning straight for the one you need then potentially going off to another part of the tree.
It is good game design. People meme too much about LE LOOK AT LE SIZE but if you're playing a melee character then most of it is useless to you and you don't need to worry about it.

the biggest problem of poe is that the gameplay is the same from hour 10 to 10.000
at the end of the day all you do is blow 1-2 screens of mobs in an instant, thats the goal of every build

I didn't say anything about the gameplay. The passive tree and build craft is different and is best in the business.

Now onto gameplay: I agree. I love PoE (pictured is my wasted life), but the gameplay is not great. It never has been. It has some bosses with fun mechanics, flavor, voice acting, and music but minute to minute gameplay is just not very good. PoE2 was their chance to fix it, but it all falls apart at maps. PoE2 is a really fun GAME and then you get to maps and it shits the bed and sucks ass. Also the buildcraft of PoE2 is much worse.

this is why I've come to prefer roguelites desu
each run is a bit different and the progression is much faster so there's no time to get bored of a build
a lot of roguelites condense the diablolike build making experience into a short run
