It's not emulating the Switch 2(yet). When the Switch 2 comes out the games will run at higher resolution on the deck because the game wont be hardcoded at 30fps

How are you going to play all the party games when friends and family come over?
I love how seamless I can play party games with the original hardware. I have enough experience with emulators to know they can be a hassle to work with lol

have fun using the 800p steam machine to play those party games at 4k without boosted clock speeds!
I bought a switch 2 and a steam deck for an upcoming deployment.
I put a switch emulator on the deck to cut down on game costs and it runs way better than I was expecting. Games like botw aren't going to perform well, but I have the switch for that.

Better to have an emulator as early as possible so fixes can be made by the time an actual good game comes out instead of waiting for a good game so a poorly coded emulator can come out
