THE indie Undertale clone was Athenian Rhapsody. AR copies the undertale's battle system, which actually made it more fun as a game because Heartbound because Heartbound didn't even have a battle system mostly and just had you wandering around through Jason's repressed memories of blizzard dev studios.

Sure. You can even do it multiple axles as the game progresses:

Last Command takes undertale's combat but played as a game of snake and with no turn taking. Your character is represented by a fucking square.
