I'm still surprised the game was either not delayed on Switch 1 for a few months, or outright cancelled in favor of being a Switch 2 seller.

I think the install base is just too small to justify that, and only a few people will make the purchase just for Prime by a studio with a lot of new, unproven talent.. I realize it's a bit retarded of me to say that though, as I'm waiting to get a Switch 2 until this thing has an actual release date.

Ah, I gotcha. That would absolutely work, maybe they're just worried after how long it's taken for the game to finally release? It's taken more time than TP from announcement to launch, maybe they don't want to burn any last shred of good will Switch 1 owners have.

I've always found the Prime series far superior to the 2D Metroids. Super Metroid just isn't that good and doesn't stand the test of time, whereas Prime does for me. I did like Dread though, but apparently people hated it because it was designed for you not to get lost.

At this point the only hope for cope is a new ZSS scene or something. The game itself is cooked. Lock on should have died with the gamecube controller and yet the game is still designed around that vestigial single stick control scheme. Disgusting.

I want to avoid spoilers so I haven't watched anything other than the announcement trailer. But, I am curious to know what the general direction for the game is.

I've only heard that the focus is much larger environments, haven't read anything about it being seamless. I did see a rumor that 5 is being worked on as well with a goal of being more open, with it being Switch 2 exclusive (and nowhere near as long of a dev cycle). Pretty sure the source was this shithole though.

I think super is on the level of Prime 1/2 but the first two prime games curbstomp all the other 2D metroid games and even prime 3 is better than most. I think the people who believe fusion is better than prime have severe brain damage.

Prime 4 seems to have a planet swapping mechanic like Prime 2, however prime 2's light/dark world were very similar to each other whereas Tanamaar and Viewros look entirely different.

That said we've seen very little of prime 4 so far (first hour or hour and a half at most) with the major mechanic not even being revealed yet, only teased

Pretty high chance at this point. If we don't get anything all summer, I'd say then it's 100% delayed. I've heard a lot of people say that they're expecting a Direct in September now, but IMO that's too late in the year to give it a release date within it. We don't even know if they'll do a Prime 4-centered Direct like they did with Bananza. And here I was, happy that GTA6 was delayed so that Prime 4 couldn't worry about it. Little did I know that Nintendo likes to compete with themselves just as much as, if not more than, with the other guys

Having played Prime Remaster recently,
I appreciate using the controller for it as trying M&K in Dolphin felt pretty boring imo.
Game is not meant to have the same appeal as something like Doom (1993) when it comes to its gunplay and enemies. (Like the switching to the missile, while cool from an immersive POV, doesnt feel responsive to engage with)
Understand why its so praised, as the exploration and puzzles are the main draw, but that last stretch of backtracking definitely ranks it lower than Super Metroid for me personally (the shooting in the 2D games is more interesting than 3D for me atm, the pacing is way more slow and the lack of movement options hurts [I get that ball form is faster, but the length of the transition contributes to the games pacing feeling more tedious compared to the 2D entries imo])
Definitely would rank it higher than Zero Mission and 2 for me
Hoping Echoes is better since I'll be using M&K for that one.
And having tried it for a few minutes, the instant transition into missiles is a big plus.
No idea if I should do Corruption before 4 releases. May be just too wired into FPS styles like Doom to really appreciate the games from a 3D perspective

Really hoping Prime 4 has more interesting gunplay and enemies while maintaining and improving the exploration and atmosphere personally speaking.
Lock-on strafing in these games has a lot of potential that I didnt think Prime 1 was able to capitalize off of

I liked Prime 3 and I liked the Wii controls. Hopping in your ship and taking off was cool as fuck every time.

>played emio
I wish there was more of "play" aspect to Emio.
The player doesn't even solve the mystery

Skytown is only memorable from a visual perspective. Both Bryyo and Pirate Homeworld have better level design, Bryyo looks really good too and homeworld isn't particularly bad looking either

I remember Bryyo the most, for music, boss fights and enemy encounters, overall design. Skytown isn't half bad though. I found Homeworld kind of meh.

homeworld had more interesting level design/progression than just zipping through linear paths in elysia. Admittedly it is cool as fuck the first handful of times.

Pirate Homeworld is pretty memorable. As is Bryyo Ice.
Also the GFS Valhalla.
