Just because I have the money, doesn't mean I'm going to automatically spend it on a rip-off.

If I took a fat steamy shit on the floor and tried to sell it to you for $100, would you buy it just because you have the money to do so?

Nintendo is trying to sell less, for less quality, and for more money. They're a multi billion dollar company and one of the most prolific faces of the gaming industry, and they're still trying to grift the people who have been keeping them in business for decades.

The truly sad part is that they are going to get away with it too. They could literally make it a requirement to suck off each member of the board of directors while they put cigarettes out on your chest in order to buy any Nintendo products, and the fan base would do it.

I just see things as they are. Most companies would probably love to be as uncompromising on their policies as Nintendo. Nintendo's just one of the few who can actually get away with it. At their core, all companies are only out for themselves and their own. The ones who compromise are the ones who feel they have to in order to get ahead. None of them do anything out of any sense of altruism. Even charity donations are done for the sake of rep boosts and tax cuts.

You're just used to console manufacturers selling more powerful hardware at a loss. It's a somewhat odd situation where people believe that a business is morally and ethically obligated to lose money. People are just mad that Nintendo refuses to play ball. They actually want to make a profit on all their products.

There are no bad products, only bad prices
It should realistically be half of what it is, the point of consoles is to sell at a loss so you get into their ecosystem
Nintendo has the biggest first party library, they get way more per switch user than Sony or Microsoft yet they have the audacity to sell their console at a profit
The only reason you have to buy their consoles over emulating is if you literally cannot wait or you're desperate to play online, you could grab a tin can made of used parts that utterly dwarfs the switch for the same price which is still unheard of for the other two

>The same price as the Switch 1?
Switch 1 is decade old hardware, and they never reduced its price outside of a Switch Lite variant. I wouldn't have expected a Switch 2 to be dramatically more expensive despite still leveraging off the shelf parts for the most part.

>the point of consoles is to sell at a loss so you get into their ecosystem
Who decided this? Sony and Microsoft only started going it because they felt they had no choice. Originally, consoles weren't sold at a loss at all. Things only started getting that way once Sony threw their had into the ring.

This is neither a law nor a rule, and certainly not one that Nintendo would ever engage in willingly. The point of products isn't to "bring people into your ecosystem", the point of products is to make a profit. Selling a product at a loss is a compromise, not some sort of merchant's commandment.

Sure, but it's how you define success
In pre-reagan murica, businesses prided themselves in how well their employees were treated. Reagan era onwards, success is measured by how many future generations of your kin will never have to work a single day of there lives
At least regarding consumer practices, Gamecube was the pre era, wii and wii u are kinda a grey area, and switch onward is full blown corpo circlejerking

Sony and Microsoft didn't start selling at a loss just for their reputation. They did it specifically to undercut the competition. It was from the 7th generation onwards that selling at a loss became an absolute necessity. Remember how expensive the PS3 was? Even THEN, it was being sold at a loss. The PS3 cost so fucking much to produce that selling it for a profit would have guaranteed no one would buy it, so they sold it at a loss. And then Microsoft came along and undercut even THAT. Sony had absolutely no choice but to sell the PS3 at the cost they did, anything more would have been utterly unreasonable for consumers. But they also couldn't afford to slash its price any further, despite the sheer amount of criticism lobbied towards it for its seemingly excessive price tag.

The fact that Nintendo can continue to sell their consoles for profit means that they're able to do so. Consumers have shown that they're willing to engage those prices. If Sony and Microsoft could afford to do the same, they absolutely would. The reason they don't is because they can't. They HAVE to do it in order to sell at all.

Selling at a loss only happens when a business is backed into a corner and sees no other way out.

Zoomers are becoming increasingly incapable of completing higher education requirements, participating in the workforce, and functioning in face to face social situations apparently. You might say they're cursed by convenience. No pressure to acquire practical skills, mobile UI saturation resulting in little to no information technology ability, raised online with a strong sense of personal entitlement and righteousness, and hyper reliance on AI generated material.

Is the first generation that is overtly failing to adapt and grow into even barely functional adults.
