0~2 trust you CAN'T pet the pal, it will simply ignore you calling them, you CAN'T sleep with the pals.
3~5 you can pet the pal, but they will give a generic expression when and after they get petted, you CAN'T sleep with your pals.
6~8 pals get happy when you pet them, basically the current petting animation, you can sleep with your pals.
9~10 you can give direct commands to pals to use their moves, pals will automatically sleep with you in any bed.

Besides using Quivern Botan over Quivern (I mildly still prefer normal Quivern's color though, I don't care enough to use vanilla over key lime), this hasn't really changed. None of the newer guys really appeal to me all that much. Knocklem and Shroomer are probably the newer guys I like most.
A lightning round of some of my other favorites would be Dinossum, Hoocrates, Daedream, Cattiva, Flopie, Surfent, Penking, Kattress Knocklem, Shroomer, Helzephyr, Astegon, Bristla, and maybe Ghangler.
Quivern is easily my favorite Pal, but I adore Jormuntide, too. Both forms, prefer water, but the fire one is good, too.

I want to use Xenogarde one of these times. I think it's cool, I just haven't really had a good opportunity to.

I'd like evolving pet animations as trust increases. For most pals, the current pet would be the low trust pet, I want pet to get more personalized and fun at higher levels. Maybe at mid range they get way more into it, present bellies to rub, ect, and maybe at max they're trying to pet you back.
More ways to boost it, not to get it over with quicker, but because doing things to deliberately improve trust is cute. Maybe expand out a set of values for a pal to generate something like a personality. Totally optional, but, this would do things like determine favorite foods/ingredients, favored actions, ect. This pal likes meat, that one likes foods cooked with flour. This pal likes swimming, that one likes finding treasure, and that one likes defeating tough opponents.
Ignoring it does nothing, but doing these things builds a bit of trust. These could also feed into ways to boost it for base pals, and food preferences would be a great opportunity to spring into assigning food slots, from both the feed bag, and feed box at base. No more everyone's just eating what's in the first slot, you can have different food for different pals. And then, because adding animations is adding to the soul of the game, most pals get two animations for eating. Normal eating, and eating a favorite food.

There are 3 pal aliance camps, palbd has listed the following chests:

I'd go into the custom difficulty settings, and set egg timers to 0, and turn off structure decay at a minimum though.
Egg timers just add a time sink to breeding, structure decay just makes the fun police come and break any of your shit you build outside of bases.
Setting base pals to at least 20 is really nice, too.

Hard is generally just un-fun in terms of scaling, for dealing with lategame content, and is really more for making things difficult if you're bringing multiple friends to fights in multiplayer.

Even on normal, it depends on when do you want to do things, you can enter any high level area and fight any high level boss at any time, but chances are that if you see a red icon next to an enemy it will absolutely and completely destroy you, you can for example, try to take on tower bosses as soon as you can reach them, but they will pull a good fight, or wait for later and bully them a little.

See the big fucking elephant at the start of the game? You can fight it if you want, but you really shouldn't, not until you get stronger, or you are a sneaky motherfucker and somehow make it fight another elephant so it gets it's HP reduced enough for you to try to kill it.

I THINK you have to "clear" a camp to reroll it, I can't say for certain, but when I had a coal base in the pal alliance area, I flew over one of those tree camps for the entire time I was there, on the way out in one of the directions. I can't guarantee it wasn't just respawning as itself, or that it never cycled and I was just oblivious, but I THINK this is the case. I wasn't paying too much attention to them, though.
I think "clearing" the camp literally just means getting the boss chest, though, I've raided a few in the desert, since I noticed the last room was available to just drop in on. Literally all I've done for some of those is run in, grab the box and pal cage, and leave, with maybe one or two dead guys from whoever I let out, and I think those all despawned.
For some like the brotherhood tower, that might not be all that helpful, since I don't think there's an easy way to skip to the end, but, I THINK there's at least one Pal Alliance camp with a similarly exposed boss room. I remember dropping in on one once, but that was a while ago, could be wrong.

You mean the gliders? Mechanically, there is no difference. Having the respective Pal in the party applies a 'buff' where the glider will behave like the gliding Pal would.
It's just that the Pal is no longer visible during the action, there is only glider.

I have three that I've upgraded to transport 5.
I optimized my storage and station locations so almost nothing in my base has to travel very far, so the pick-up radius (which is tied to model size) isn't an issue.
Their speed drops when they're actively transporting, but they never have to carry anything very far, either.
The bottleneck for me was how fast they can get to the pickup location, and these little box-dogs zip across the base so fast. It's hilarious.

2. Labor priority chains. Instead of hard banning certain job types, rearrange their job preferences. If you could assign this on a station by station basis, it's effectively the same as 1.
3. Food slot assignments. Multiple feed bags are useless, all the slots in the feed box are useless once you get a fridge. A pal in the party or at base should be able to be assigned to a particular slot they eat from if available.
4. The ability to add labors to pals. I understand not going overboard, but there's too many pals that have too sparse of work skills, and so end up idling, or just being useless for base work. I'm not saying everyone should be able to do anything, pals that are extra valuable for work should still be a thing, but, there's a big chunk of pals that just suck for it.
5. More uses for fringe skills. Gathering, cooling, electricity, and planting need to do more. Cooling getting the better Crusher was great for their usability, similar applications need to exist for other labors. Handicraft keeps getting shit it can do, this needs to be happening for other skills.

Assuming you're maxing everyone's proficiency in everything, the important details about pals are
1. What proficiencies they have in the first place
2. Their movement speed, and if applicable, hauling movement speed
3. If they're naturally nocturnal (saves a passive slot), but only some jobs really benefit from being nocturnal.
4. Mining/treecutting animation, but only if they're working actual rocks or trees, not the buildings

Depresso is ass at transportation regardless of what you upgrade it to, mining isn't a job that really benefits from being nocturnal, and depresso will always kinda suck at mining rocks, but it has a decent spread of jobs it can do.
If you just want it to work an ore mine for the rest of its life, it will do just as fine as anyone else, book investment aside

Yes
You can sleep in any pal bed, and if a pal is using it, they'll make room for you.
Some pals adopt specific animations for this, but some just do their old animation, just off to the side.
Only downside is that it has to be base pals, there's not a way to do it with party pals, besides setting them to the base temporarily
Also the pal pod doesn't quite work right.

Has anyone noticed their pals keeping an expression past when it's supposed to play? For example, my Chillet constanly has an "X)" after swimming, and I don't think she's THAT happy after swimming around Feybreak's entire island.

Some skills will never naturally manifest outside of specific pals that generate with it.
I dunno exactly how it works, but random traits can generated if a pal doesn't get enough from their parents, or if any trait combinations from the parents would be illegal (same trait multiple times, for example).
Random traits always have a chance to appear, but I have noticed they appear more often when breeding pals with fewer overall traits, or duplicates. Breeding 2 pals with exactly 2 skills each, that aren't the same also seems to have the lowest odds of getting random traits, which is in line with my hypothesis
