It's really hard to tell if he is being genuine or not with how much he stroked himself off for his DMC series. I never heard him quite this vocal with all the other shit that wasn't Apu until the DMC series so maybe the negative feedback on his DMC series actually mindbroke him. Like he is still serious thinking himself a genius, but since no one "recognizes" his genius he is on a spree to "improve" franchises out of spite because he has enough connections to do so.

Blazblue retconned Ragna's original personality really fucking hard too, doesn't help things.

Back in Calamity Trigger, Ragna was kind of an edgy bitch and all the side material, like the Memories of Blue side story or manga which showed his attack that earned him the name of Grim Reaper, had him mercilessly slaughtering hundreds without a second thought. Continuum Shift immediately backpedaled on that immensely by dedicating a sizable chunk of Ragna's early story to show he's actually a pretty nice guy, if has temper issues, and retconned his attacks to waiting for a few people to be staffed as possible and not killing anyone who tried to run.

It was for the best but kind of made a weird and jarring disconnect of still trying to fit the backstory designed for edgy Ragna when his CS and later personality didn't really fit what they originally envisioned. That's worst part of imagining Adi adapting Blazblue, is that some people would absolutely defend him turning Ragna into an excessively edgy fuck due to that and he already swears a lot.
