There's only some thin walls separating you from being remaster'd by THEM. The change is slow at first, subtle, your skin's natural crevaces and crannys will deepen, your eyes may turn a more saturated color, you may experience wild and uncontrollable facial expressions during normal emotion or perhaps even become completely stone faced. Not that I need it I still have the original copy but what about someone else? I have played Redux and regardless of whether or not it is shit (it is) the original should still be preserved.

2033 had a very dark atmosphere while redux was more generic action adventure slop like the sequels. The stealth sections were dumbed down for consoles and in general the lighting and effects are worse for the sake of console specs.

Original 2033 is the only game in the series that shows its STALKER roots.

Stealth worked for me, they spotted me far away and could hear me not sneaking, as intended.

Almost done learning the main menu theme on guitar. I highly recommend the book it's very fun and extremely different than the game. The book is more like a journey through the metro and Artyom gets involved in a lot of weird shit like becoming a slave shoveling shit or getting into an altercation with a giant worm cult.

fyi most of these things about "redux" are just ported over from Last Light, a sequel which (imo) is inferior with a dumb plot, but still worth playing if you enjoyed 2033
Last Light also has its own 'redux' and 'complete' versions but you dont need to worry about them, its the same game but with some bugs fixed and others introduced

Never play a remaster over the original unless the original is completely broken and unplayable.

If youre struggling with the first corridor, heres a tip: Theres some small pipes going across the walls of the inner cylinder-shaped chamber at the same level as the floor. You can use these to walk around the place and end up at the opposite side without triggering the amoebas. You still need to get the NPC across but now you can destroy amoeba spawner (takes lots of ammo compared to just shooting the amoebas and rushing through) before they get to activate
