Can anyone recommend me games that look like this in presentation and aesthetics, but is FPS, RPG, or less of a walking sim? thanks.

>>714738964Best soulslike I've played apart from nioh
Here's what I bought and paid for
>9 Kings
Decent enough for me to watch Plex while I'm playing.
>Wandering Swords
Pretty sprites but the game mechanics seems kind of shallow. When you start the game, go to the Precipice in the northwest and jump off a cliff at the end of the dungeon. You get a game over and can restart on Extreme.

>>714739957If you're willing to improve yourself, accept a few losses and, possibly, lower your standards: Yes. Do some minor physical training every day; the OPM workout will work. Build up to it, accept failure as you go if you've never done a a pushup in your life.
After you've done that for about 2 months, 3 months if starting at 0, then try to ask a girl out. Accept loss. Ask 2 a day.
To reiterate: Accept loss.
One of the primary thing women do look for is physical attributes. You do the same thing, don't even lie. You do not have to be an alpha male. You don't have to have yuge muscles. You don't need some Joe Rogan level of charisma. You don't need to be funny. Just willing to accept loss as you try and to continue to improve yourself.
You will fail at times. This is normal. Continue on. A successful day is a day you did not fail.

>>714738159>>714738382I'd recommend G-String if you liked Peripeteia. Mechanically it's literally reskinned Half-Life 2 weapons and enemies with fewer combat encounters, but the environments are something I can best describe as a more linear Peripeteia that still gives zero fucks about whether the player gets lost or not. It's a game you play to wander through hours and hours of the best dilapidated buildings you've ever seen in a video game while having the occasional firefight, and which is so oddly-paced that somehow the bits which feel like a slog work in its favor and make the whole really feel like the vast journey through a sprawling, continent-spanning city it wants to be.
>>714740850How bad? I can handle musou-tier slop.
>>714739001For Isaac Afterbirth and Afterbirth+ are kind of awkward points in the DLC progression. They kinda fuck with the balance of the base game that isn't fixed until Repentance and add Greed mode which a lot of people dislike.

>>714737543>somypomy makes this years ago to dab on pc >half those games are now on pclol potry
>>714739867Looked through my library quick, only two I can rec are
>Prime Moververy firmly in zachtronics territory. Only difference is most zahctronics games have space as a big cosntraint but this one just lets you make (practically) infinite subspaces that you have to learn to treat as functions of inputs and outputs. There's another game called Infinite Turtles that's pretty similar and seemed pretty good but I only played the demo
>A=BPretty cool novelty puzzler about a minimalist programming language. I remember it gets like kind of tedious later on but it's very cheap so I think worth playing just the good parts
also here's something you can play in browser for free:
https://nandgame.com/
>>714739867Human Resource Machine, 7 Billion Humans.
>>714741482I have the LE version of that on Vita and enjoyed it. Just one fair warning on that:
If vore upsets you, don't play it. To advance the plot, girls must die. To get a lot of the girls, the earlier girls must die. Even the dog has to die. You get to hear their death screams and the actresses did a good job on it. It unsettled me, something no game sense or before has done.
>>714741519Sure: So you pick a character to play as, say Ryu in this case, and later a difficulty level. Instead of collecting gear or traits as you'd do in a roguelike game, you collect people. As you complete a level you can then recruit a character/shop/do 2 other things not important here. Each character adds between 1-5 stats of which there are like 8; Lu Bu and Honda, for example, add 5 whereas Lu Bu's wife adds 1. The fun part comes in how they are identified as and what combos can come from that. Each one has a move they use. Each one also has conditions to buff their personal move as well as coniditons to apply a buff while they are deployed I forgot what its called but I'll call it a commander ability. I'll use two as examples:
Huang Zhong has rain of arrows. He needs a lot of Shu characters to upgrade his personal move -- rain of arrows. His commander ability increases the area of it or something and requires "great archers"
Sun Shang Xiang also has rain of arrows and is a great archer. If Huang Zhong has completed his commander ability and is deployed, she gets that effect too. Her personal upgrade requires Liu Bei and ups her damage. 'Member how she married him? That's why. Her commander ability reduces the cooldown of Flowers of War, of which she is one.
So most of the time what I found works well is to go with a group; Cao Cao wants all Wei, Ryza wants all Flowers of War, where as Oda wants all Oda clan, etc. But of course RNG will not let you do that....
>>714742387>no man's sky twice>firewatch

>>714742387Why do you want to "play" One Man's Lie? Do you want a sandbox? Do you want sci-fi? NMS is just 3D Starbound and just as embarassing, except several times more expensive. I figure if you want a bad space game - why not save the money and just buy Starbound? Or is 2D a dealbreaker?

>>714742265>To advance the plot, girls must die. To get a lot of the girls, the earlier girls must die. Even the dog has to die. You get to hear their death screams and the actresses did a good job on it. It unsettled me, something no game sense or before has done. That sounds like part of the appeal to me: by the sounds of it your actions actually have weight, and characters you like will die unless you play some kind of hyper-optimal route some ways down the line. I had a similar interest in Fuga: Melodies of Steel until I heard it was way too easy to coast through the game without feeding anyone to the soul cannon. If you're going to have a mechanic like that, you also need the game to be so tremendously difficult that avoiding said option altogether is a herculean task and sometimes impossible if you screw up enough.
Picked up the Crash bandicoot collection and Wavetale.
You obviously can't miss with Crash if you don't already have it but Wavetale is surprisingly fun for $3, since your just surfing from island to island completing whatever task it is and moving on. Decent little platformer.

>>714739001Excellent games.
The one problem with DD is how slow the animations are, but that's easily modded. Another caveat is how many fall victim to is coddling one A-team and avoiding the final dungeon. Myself included. Basically, you need at least 12 bodies to clear it. If you start exploring it as soon as you max out a squad, you are always progressing and gaining knowledge, otherwise you might need to grind for character xp.

Deathtrap was recommended in one of these threads earlier and I've put about 20 hours into it at this point. Can wholeheartedly recommend. It's just a tower defense with a little bit of RPG to it. You've got a hero character that levels up. You gain skill points, which you use to pick your active abilities for your hot bar; research points, which you use to unlock and upgrade traps; and gold, which you use to buy gear. There's a certain amount of "builds" you can do (right now my sorceress is stacking +ice damage and ice-related traps), and there's a ton to do. There's a 13-map campaign, but beating it allows for four extra "tiers" of each of the 13 levels, which have the same layout but different monster paths, enemies, and trap configurations. Levels also have quests you can do for extra rewards, like beating it without upgrading any traps, or beating it without having your character deal any damage. It's also co-op. For under $2 it's an easy recommend if you like TDs.
>>714753506Post your haul.

I was asking in previous threads for few times and among the games I ultimately picked was Cyber Knights Flashpoint, despite that nobody here actually played it and could voice opinions.
I played it for 5 hours now and it looks and plays quite interesting. There is a serious info dump, however, as now all mechanics are explained or obvious. It appears as XCUM clone (and it indeed have cover system, base building and 4-6 people squads) but at the same time it's not - units have 6 action points (can be temporary increased via buffs) with different costs for different actions so you may shoot few times with different weapons without moving or shoot and then move, lots of active skills, skilltrees for each class (with rather wide selection) plus option for dual classing later, individual rather than party based activation (with option for delay), crafting and some stuff I didn't discover yet. Game is stealth orientated, you can go full gunning down but you must do that quick as most missions have security AI that check situation each turn and adjust - single guard missing could be ignored, few will order others to investigate and extra cameras/motion sensors/etc to activate, pissed enough will spawn wave after wave of enemy reinforcements. Security is also "dumb" as in - if you kill a guard, others will investigate where the guard should be rather than where you are at the moment, which is nice.
Overall seems like good game, rather unknown. Would recommend with bigger discount but game just went out of EA. Same developer as Templar Battleforce, by the way.

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One isn't bad, although it basically doesn't let you progress without finding every piece of evidence and some of the choices you can make feel like intentionally vague 50/50s. I don't regret having played it, but I also can't confidently recommend it to anyone either. There's Murders on the Yangtze River but it's more of a Phoenix Wright clone than a real detective game.

>>714766410Drop fight knight. Its a game with far too much fighting for for how basic the combat is. Your moveset barely changes. It gets boring incredibly fast.
Drop Claire, that just came out and its in gamepass.
Drop Sifu; see Fight Knight. Its moveset is so small it forces you to unlock every move like 3-5 times to actually get them to stay unlocked, blatant padding.
Drop BG3. Its on a shit sale, see the "combat bad too much combat" complaint again and pretty much every aspect of it is overhyped; the romance is just everyone falling into love or lust with you within a day of meeting, the choices don't change 90% of the game and the version of DnD it uses is so basic with such boring growth that people hype up pushing people off ledges over the actual classes.
And Drop Eternal strands which is or was on gamepass and isn't very good. You start the game with a gravity spell that stunlocks every enemy but bosses, but fighting bosses is the only way to get new moves... which you don't need if you don't fight bosses. Extremely poorly thought out.
>>714765582Drop fight knight, steel rising, buy less cheap games you aren't going to play and get something you actually want.

>>714748994>>714751167I'd say Atlyss is not fun personally. It has no content, no balance, no variety, nothing to do and no meaningful punishment for death, meaning nothing matters at all.
Unless you plan to ERP its just not a good game on any level.
>>714743554>>714743660This. Enemies just ignore hitstun at will, making the combat unfun, in a game that's entirely combat. Its map design is bad. The core concept of edgy vampires having to live in a post-apokalyptic world doesn't matter since everyone is happy and bubbly and immortal.
It just feels like any other generic anime game.

My haul for this summer. I'm going to shill Astlibra. I already put in over 20 hours after getting it just a few days ago. The gameplay is tight and the story is kino.
>>714769668>no content, nothing to doThis is verifiably wrong. Sure, it's lacking in content, but there's enough of it for its price. Especially given that the content is effectively tripled by having three classes to level.
Plus hanging out in lobbies IS fun (and not just for ERPing) and shouldn't be looked down upon. Questing with a full party is nice too.
>no balance, no varietyThe classes are varied enough to feel distinct when playing, the bosses and even generic mobs in the two dungeons also have enough differences.
>no meaningful punishment for death, meaning nothing matters at all.Sorry, but this is just retarded. For the kind of game that it is, losing the time to run back from the spawn is punishment enough. Though it should be said that the current final gauntlet in the game restarts completely if you die.
Like sure, Atlyss is blatantly unfinished, and I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's not nearly as bad as you make it out to be.
>>714771319What are those hidden games, anon?
>>714762404What? I'm
>>714760791 and the reason I suggested Chapter One over Crimes and Punishment despite the latter being frequently lauded as best in the series is because Crimes and Punishments is the most hand-holdy paint by numbers detective game I've ever played. It's basically a VN like Phoenix Wright and Yangtze river. It's fine for what it is, and great for its price point, but I have never played a detective or puzzle game which holds your hand to any greater degree than does Crimes and Punishments. Chapter One is egregious for its vagueness, so I can understand the preference, but to suggest Crimes and Punishments doesn't hold your hand just seems insane to me.
>>714760523But oh yeah I forgot to mention Hypnospace Outlaw. You should definitely check that out for investigative games.

>>714744247Thank you for speaking truth about No Man's Sky. That game is dogshit and always will be.
Has anyone played Wizordum? The demo is pretty cool but I'm afraid that the game can become very boring in the later parts.
>>714770923i wish there was a game like wow but not wow
kind of like classic wow but even moreso how you would feel having never played wow maybe you grew up reading the strategy guide and only ever dreaming about the game being talked bout, then finally getting to play and once you're max level, going to those old zones with no one in them and finding (even for the time) obscure quests like in the alterac mountains
a big mmo or rpg with cool loot and a feeling of actual lost history
maybe i should try everquest but man it just doesnt look that great, so many of those locations are just grainy pngs folded into ugly boxes that resemble rooms and the characters stand in that goofy stilted pose. early wow hit the right spot of looking kind of old but still detailed
it also just seems like throwing a ton of time into a pit i dont want to toss right now
>>714770964I liked it. I used to kinda know the dev and had played his early demos, so I knew what to expect going in. It has a few themes but then anything beyond that is just whatever the dev felt like and could find footage of. It's bizarre and just barely avoids being absurd, but most of the gameplay is snooping around to get all the different endings to what is essentially a series of CYOA segments.
It clocked in at 3.7 hours to 100% it, so not a very long game if you're expecting that.
>nauticrawl was cool but I figured it would be harderI figured the difficulty would be driving the machine and the world would be a simple test that you know how. No, turns out driving the machine is easy and that's just the entry conditions to play the dev's roguelite.
It was easy for me too solely because I had a perfect run, like 20 minutes long because it just kept giving me the next objective as soon as I went anywhere new.
It almost feels like I cheated, it was just too smooth. I never even learned how to use the cloak because I never needed it
I bought some games I had already pirated because I liked them.
Lobotomy Corp, Afterimage, and Killer Frequency. I also got a game called "Fear The Spotlight" which was bundled with KF because I enjoy horror games and Dead End Drive because it was a dollar.
Can you show which strategic/tactical games you bought this time?
Avowed
I know its goyslop but being able to play a rpg like a fps is fun as fuck, especially double pistoling enemies down who run at you with swords. I hope future rpgs put similar work into their combat systems and not just attack/block

Felvidek seems cool, but I personally waited until next sale
>>714783290It is the same guy
>>714782354Northern Journey is good
>>714781849Do you play every game that's released on Steam? There's about 50 each day
Oh you don't? So you somehow dismiss almost all of them without "forumating" your own opinion?

>>714784061Definitely not rift wizard 2
>>714784143>you can find out whether games are worth playing just by watching gameplay videosNot for every game, really. There are games that look fun but suck to play. There are also games you think you wouldn't get too interested in but somehow get stuck playing for dozens of hours.
>>714784061Did you play the first FFXIII? XIII-2 and LR are direct sequels and their stories are pure nonsense if you didn't play the first one.
>>714784334I did play base game, yeah. It was years ago though
I feel like I've already played all the good games
recommend me some games I might not have played already
>>714784061Add Northern Journey
