So now that the dust has finally settled... did we think we did and we did? Or did we didn't?

For someone that never played WoW it was actually really fun to play trough it.

As someone who started in TBC, I thought I did, and I definitely did.

it was great except for how incompetent blizzard was to ban bots, boosters and more RMT stuff. 2015-2018 vanilla private servers were waaay better

I've laughed at the no change guys insisting on the 2.5 tickrate simulation but then even they hated it lmao and not a single good pvp-er wanted it either. They eventually removed it and gave it the modern 100 server tickrate lmao.

I liked it but I regret not taking it seriously enough on launch
I just wanted to have fun and everyone was treating it like a job so I ended up quitting a bit early, coming back, quitting, coming back and never really getting anywhere satisfying

Why are Mages so fucking kino? They're by far the best designed class in vanilla. It's not even because of their insane AoE capabilities, I just mean the specs are really well done. Arcane Blast perfects the 3 specs in TBC, but even in vanilla everything is great.

It was truly a good game. What we saw, however, is that there really was only one way things could have gone down, and indeed started going down once again.

I'm glad it led to the creation of classic+ fanservers like Turtle and Epoch, and also contained the hardcore parsing faggots onto the blizz servers so the pirate servers stay fun.

>incompetent
Your average WoW player is a gamerdad raid logger who plays all classes and pays off sub equator shitskins to grind gold for him. He would not play the game otherwise.

Same old game except it got shitified by Blizzard's greed and laziness.
10 times worse modern community that min maxes the fun out of everything when the OG vanilla players were a bunch of older millennials/gen x with a sense of awe, roaming and exploring WoW's massive world while using in game chat as a social communicator, not giving a fuck about autistic parse simulator that WoW devolved into.

Leveling up is some of the best gameplay to exist. Everything in the end game is garbage. That's the main lesson I learned

i liked it because my rogue tech from 2005 worked and it doesnt work on modern internet/servers but oh well.

I actually wanted 1.5 style vanilla wow for a while. 1.12 was the no fun allowed patch before TBC where raids, classes, and items were heavily nerfed so that the meta was more streamlined.

Leveling experience was still kino for the first few months on the pvp realms (assuming you didn't play on streamers realm).
Afterwards the game became dogshit. By December everyone was copying their favourite streamer, you've seen gdkp and cleave runs everywhere while people skipped open world content for "efficiency". The honor farming prior to release of BGs was just zerg groups camping outnumbered players and lowbies which meant you were also forced to dungeon cleave at higher levels, as going to searing gorge or burning steppes was a suicide. People very quickly started moving to servers where their faction was dominant, only few pvp realms stayed balanced thorough 2020. Raid logging was never fun in this game, retail it's waiting for retards to get it right, classic it's the slow ass process of organising 40 people to clear boring repetitive content just so you can get 0 loot for 3 weeks due to competition, bigger loot tables and less items dropped.

>zoomer coworker friends try to get me to play classic with them
>when I already played vanilla-tbc-wotlk when they originally came out and also dabbled in private servers later
i thanked them and hope they have fun but i wasn't about to play pandaria with them
cataclysm just killed the game for me and actually was the turning point for me quitting retail in the first place

i played the anniversary edition for the first time ever, had mindless fun while levelling with something on my second monitor, spamming scarlet monastery was fun, I was just levelling in the place next to westfall at like 1am when a group asked me if I wanted to run it with them and they told me how to get up there and all that, had fun farming for bis stuff in brd since it was supposed to last rather than be replaced 3 levels later, spent the late 50s doing tons of guild stuff and I was between 56 and 60 for like 2 weeks because of it, had 3 pieces of raid gear before I even hit 60. My main goal was just to play until I did onyxia so I could experience it like that funny video, kept raiding after it though, did MC and onyxia like 20 times, it took 4 weeks to kill the first dragon in BWL but after that we got it every week, I eventually just stopped signing up for raids and cancelled my sub since I didnt want to spend 3 hours once a week doing the same shit where I could be jacking off for 99% of it and nothing would even change, fun experience, definitely an all timer game, might renew my sub after more dungeons come out (assuming I havent been gkicked)

Theres something about meeting some random out in the world, partying with them to kill some pigs quicker then staying with them for 2-5 more quests afterwards, even if you dont talk much it just feels nice, also traversal being kind of annoying has a certain charm to it

for me it was the best gaming experience I had in the last 10 years
those first few weeks leveling with my irl friends was pure nostalgia bliss
but we were smart enough to quit after clearing MC because the end-game community sucks ass just like in retail, maybe even more
