FF16 is an action game with cutscenes. They're barely in the same genre. It has a free demo that is extremely front loaded that's worth trying.

It's a movie with gameplay, as lttle of it as there is, that boils down to button mashing.

That's always been a thing, even old sprite based games tried to give the bosses gravitas. That's where the multi screen jrpg bosses were for.

In that Asterigos game there's a section where you are moving through like a huge army barracks or something and if you look you can keep finding notes talking about experiments trying to make some sort of giant robot. There's all these giant bronze hoplite statues around and the whole time I was getting so hyped about the prospect of fighting one. Then you chase down the guy you're looking for and he uses some sort of electro doodad to bring one of the statues to life and the health bar is called "The Bronze Colossus" and you fight it for a bit while he tries to zap you. Then after a bit he zaps another one and it starts to stand up and the health bar changes to "The Twin Colossi".
It was fun. Game promised me a fight with a big robot and then delivered.

nta but ff16 is definitely better than e33.
despite it being really boring at parts at least its story and dialogue aren’t offensively shit like e33.

The only difference in phase 3 is an extra swing per attack always with the exact same pattern and it doesn't even apply to the two harder ones to dodge/parry. If you can do phase 2 you can very easily do phase 3.

A lot of it is boring and the combat is simple compared to other action games, but when it peaks during the eikon boss fights the peaks are insanely high. It really feels like you're watching gods fight each other. Excellent spectacle and music.

The leviathan fight is easily the best eikon fight. Only issue it's locked behind a DLC and is the very last eikon fight you'll ever do

>You face your lifelong nemesis.
>The fate of world depends on your victory
>Area where you fight with your Nemesis is also place of battle between 2 divine beings and you have to avoid being harmed by collateral damage they cause
>All of this with heart pumping music im background.

In modern popular culture? Probably the Jojo anime.
In general? The Illiad.

That's what makes it kino. He's got over 70 moves or something. I've finished the game 15 times, and fought Erlang specifically in the boss challenge at least that many times again, and still don't fully know his moveset. There's very few bosses in that type of game you can really say the same.
