Its not just that. It may be changing but even 10 or 20 years ago if an asian girl had basically a curvy hourglass figure, she would be mercilessly shamed by every female she knew that she was fat, would never get a man, or that she was an evil whore temptress. Its not just an anime trope guys, there were a lot of basic asian proportions girls who treated curvy ones like they were working for the Dark Lord because why would she flaunt her indecent body (even if she was dressed in a goddamn hoodie that obscured her boobs, hips, and ass as much as possible).

This is starting to change for a variety of reasons (at least in Japan) but its a real thing so there are some girls who have zero self esteem because they were told they were ugly cows and to be ashamed of their giant udders and birthing hips. Hell, even fucking skinny latinas give thicc ones bullshit out of jealousy, so you can imagine how badly things can be in east asia.
