EVE Online
Is this game any fun
Anonymous No.714796718 [Report] >>714796929 >>714797396 >>714798782
No. Dev's listened to Reddit and killed the game years ago. CCP Grayscale was the only person that knew what he was doing. Reddit canceled him for telling them they were shit at the game.

From 2005-2010 or so, it was hands down the best MMO in existance. It's a F2P & P2W shadow of it's former self these days. It's not fun.

>What killed it?
It was a long process and it took years. There was a slow steamrolling of mechaincs, starting with the laster thrax and moving onto nano kits and stealth bombers and such. The Moros nerf was terrible and showed that they just wanted everything to be the same with different skins. Also, CCP used to aggressively hunt down gold farmers, RMT, account sharing, multi-boxers and this had a huge effect on the multiplayer part of the game - you had to actually skill up and make friends to get ahead. Even running two clients was extremely difficult. CCP eventually relented and decided that they wanted money from the multiboxers, and RMT fags, so they inserted themselves as the middleman and allowed single people to run dozens of accounts simultaneously and also ignored scripting, and allowed them to just buy ingame currency. After all this, CCP gave up entirely on the very unique skill-up mechanism they had going and just sell skills. If that weren't enough, they decided 1 year after that to go F2P. All of this taken together meant that a single person with a few thousand dollars could field a fleet of hundreds of ships, and even do it competently. This may surprise you, but this did nothing to stop the PCU from sinking.

It also used to be a beautiful game. Apple, of all companies, gave CCP an award for making such an artistically compelling videogame, and gave them resources to make an OSX native version. The music was excellent. The backstory and ambiance was unique. The reason for this is that it was made by Icelanders with their aesthetic in mind. Sometime after 2010, CCP moved to Atlanta, which is full of niggers and retards. The aesthetic and music went to shit. Ship designs might as well be AI slop. They gave up on music - they just have a folder for you to dump your own into.

Play it only if you really, really enjoy the sci-fi aesthetics.
Albion Online is the same game, minus all the bad parts like time-gated progression and rampant cheating. It even has actual gameplay.

Only if you're in a fun corp (guild) with active users who go on occasional roaming for small scale pvp.

I picked it up for like the 3rd time recently. No it's still super boring. Are you turbo-autistic? Cuz yeah then maybe. And not because it's difficult, just that you need to have a very specific plan on what you want to do, and then look for a corp that will have you, and is actually active. But the moments of fun are fun, but they are moments. Play something else.

the fun parts of the game have all been removed
that is, the jukebox and the ability to leave your ship and walk around space ports
also, here's what the jukebox used to be before they deleted it

I liked shooting up b-rep with the boys in red fed and then banding together when all the retards kept wardeccing us and I liked camping out in a NPC nullsec station and then going into owned space and scanning out those nullsec anomalies where you had to open a cargo container but the enemies were mostly battleships and I'd take the covops and scan a bunch then dock and pull out a rifter and just orbit the containers while the battlships all missed me for the good loot. It was fun, felt like getting away with something and thumbing my nose at the big boys. RvB was the most fun though, even got to do an AT with them. Bonus like was that time when we had the guy whose job was being a guitarist in rockbands who played in bars and we'd just grind isk and chill on coms while he played classic rock at us but then he got snatched away by some wormhole corp to keep their farming sane I guess, can't blame them. I had the best bald guy portrait for my farming alt, Pantson Head

Yes, but requires a hell of a lot of patience and insane amount of learning to get to the point of having fun.

>devs killed the game by making ships other than the drake decent in a fleet
dont listen to those tards the game is fine now and more ships are viable than ever. just less wild west than the first decade of its existence. Torpedos used to do AOE damage. Could literally kill an entire fleet with 1 scorpion fit with torps. Shit was insane. Could also fit multiple microwarpdrives on ships and go so insanely fast that you took no damage from non-aoe weapons.

it is still worth dabbling in but not worth investing in long term either time or money unless you're an autistic faggot that thinks encouraging multi boxing multiple omega accounts is good gameplay or business. it's also filled to the brim with chink bots

In the golden days dudes would roll a trial account and suicide bomb those guys. There was an EvE-O forums (RIP) thread of hatemail they got. This is the kind of game EvE was. The kind of game EvE is now will ban you for that.

You just gotta find your niche
The game is in a dreary state but I still do lowsec mining/salvaging and it's pretty chill
