>>714796531 (OP)From 2005-2010 or so, it was hands down the best MMO in existance. It's a F2P & P2W shadow of it's former self these days. It's not fun.
>>714796718>>714797396>What killed it?It was a long process and it took years. There was a slow steamrolling of mechaincs, starting with the laster thrax and moving onto nano kits and stealth bombers and such. The Moros nerf was terrible and showed that they just wanted everything to be the same with different skins. Also, CCP used to aggressively hunt down gold farmers, RMT, account sharing, multi-boxers and this had a huge effect on the multiplayer part of the game - you had to actually skill up and make friends to get ahead. Even running two clients was extremely difficult. CCP eventually relented and decided that they wanted money from the multiboxers, and RMT fags, so they inserted themselves as the middleman and allowed single people to run dozens of accounts simultaneously and also ignored scripting, and allowed them to just buy ingame currency. After all this, CCP gave up entirely on the very unique skill-up mechanism they had going and just sell skills. If that weren't enough, they decided 1 year after that to go F2P. All of this taken together meant that a single person with a few thousand dollars could field a fleet of hundreds of ships, and even do it competently. This may surprise you, but this did nothing to stop the PCU from sinking.
It also used to be a beautiful game. Apple, of all companies, gave CCP an award for making such an artistically compelling videogame, and gave them resources to make an OSX native version. The music was excellent. The backstory and ambiance was unique. The reason for this is that it was made by Icelanders with their aesthetic in mind. Sometime after 2010, CCP moved to Atlanta, which is full of niggers and retards. The aesthetic and music went to shit. Ship designs might as well be AI slop. They gave up on music - they just have a folder for you to dump your own into.
