There's a new type called "Banner" which places a beacon on a tile that grants a global passive effect until it gets landed on. Some cards now have a trigger effect that changes their function when a condition is met. Haven't got in-game to try them yet though. Mama Poppo has extended rubberhose arms now.

Peer2peer lobbies through Steam, and the base game characters are perfectly fine. Most of the DLC ones are pretty gimmicky and require more advanced play.
