You just need to explore each scene to its fullest and progress will be straightforward. Only much later in the game you're required to backtrack to previous scenes and the deductions get more complex.

Same, I agree with the anon saying play it all in one go. I think for me I found the UI itself kind of complex and convoluted, but it IS a quite difficult game and the art style further complicates things (It's a necessity, of course). ignore the blurring completely and use your own deduction, I did. I don't think it's a necessary or helpful element of the game. sometimes you can make an educated guess on blurry guys while unblurred are perfectly fine to ignore for a while. there is definitely a point where you can figure out the carpenters' identities fairly easily while one or both are still blurred.

I think Pope tried to make the game more forgiving with this mechanic but it's distracting and you're better off following your own powers of observation.

I feel it would have worked better if it went it forward chronological order, so the last scene is with the third mate making the bargain with the mermaid to return the Obra Dinn back home, but I guess it couldn't really work with the way the memory death scenes operated. Maybe if you could actually visit the Lazaette and the cells would open up in order to reveal a new corpse.

There was one guy, who either got disintegrated by a cannon blast or yoinked out a porthole by the Kraken and I don't even remember what the right answer was because I just did little variations of my guess when I had two people locked in for sure to get me the triple.

I think it was blown apart by a cannon but I was annoyed there wasn't any blood splatter or at least a few wayward limbs to give a rock solid answer, particularly since there was another guy right next to him who also got rocked by the canon and you could clearly see him getting gibbed but the other guy was no where to be seen.
Anonymous No.714825154 [Report]
Two things I didn't realize as I was playing that are huge helps:
1) When reviewing the transcript of a death scene the lines spoken by the guy currently dying are marked with an X.
2) You can insert placeholder titles for characters when you have a partial understanding of their identity (an officer, a midshipman, etc.).

The Painscreek Killings is really good. Not perfect but a very fun little mystery. And if you haven’t played Rise of the Golden Idol I liked it a lot. I don’t know if it’s better than Case but it’s got its own charm. Manages to not necessarily retread the exact same plot as the original and some of the cases aren’t even murders, but still plot important puzzles. The DLC has also been enjoyable so far. Still two more expansions left to release

It's a custom world made on the Super Mario Bros X PC engine that people used to use before romhacking got advanced enough to sidestep the need for its existence.
Betterified VI: Bestified (don't play the other 5 sub-par inside joke hacks before it) is ostensibly a comedy-based custom world that shows off a bunch of SMBX's custom asset tools. However, it's also jam-fucking-packed with more secrets than you could ever believe actually exist within the game. Secret worlds and bosses, religion mechanics, bad/true endings, esoteric multi-step secrets with debug keyboard commands that almost always end up paying off in the form of something mildly silly. It goes deep beyond belief.
It's not kaizo difficulty either, it's pretty casual-friendly (as a casual myself), though the game does nothing to stop you from using base-game SMBX cheats.

Here's a download link;

And here's the release trailer;

Also Super Mario Bros X was made by Redigit, the main man behind Terraria, which is why the fireball sprites look exactly like a Terraria spell.

Hey, thanks for the recommend! Yeah, same stuff, I like little hand-crafted experiences that no one else has seen but has passion poured into it. Betterified VI itself is the culmination of a long-running joke where the original Betterified was a shitpost remix of a hack called the Invasion 2 originally used to showcase SMBX's custom tools, but that added context is not required to enjoy it. I haven't done any Portal 2 modding before but Source modding is far from difficult.
>>714841748
It isn't even a fraction as Cryptic and deep as La Mulana, admittedly. The puzzles are much easier and most simply test your intuition to stop and go "wait, is that being serious?". But I'd also say it never overstays its welcome, with every level having its own weird gimmick that no other level shares and half of all levels being entirely optional. But if you want a GAME and not a silly custom campaign, Betterified VI is not that.

Nigger, that was the fakeout.
You see him explicitly getting ripped apart and the next scene a guy mentions how a frenchman was ripped apart by the beast.
You never see the actual frenchman die, he's just right next to the creature, holding a weapon before he's never seen again.

The logical deductions and connections I think were actually really well done and felt balanced so i never felt compelled to brute force any of the IDs, but yeah once you realized which direction the "mystery" was going, it sucked a lot of the tension and excitement out. also the free AI gen photo version is much more interesting than the full release because it gives the whole thing a kind of creepy and uncanny edge that really benefits the atmosphere.

This one was a lot of fun. Not super difficult but a cool idea. If I had one note I wish there was more side missions beyond just the interlayer communication translations. It would have been cool to have to go back and follow up once they start traveling to different layers and helping each other. But if you don’t go way out of your way to do so you might not even realize that’s happening.
