does everything bad about this come from trying to pander to a wider audience (for example gamer dads)?

They pandered to gamers with powerful rigs, while not delivering on visuals or hard gameplay
It's a game for no one

A lot of it is stuff ported from Rise, despite Risefags trying to get uppity about their game being better.

Gamer dads are not a wide audience.
You are a true gamer dad for like 10 years.
Kids spend time in school or playing whit friends and once they reach 16 they will avoid you like the plague.

Wilds was designed for flavor of the month nomries.

Absolutely, this game takes making your game accessible to the extreme and now it pretty much plays itself.

I never played Wilds because the late game in Worlds felt more and more like a mobile game with constant notifs and retarded busywork to get irrelevant upgrades.

In older Monhun you could be "done" with your build and enjoy the late game by either helping lower hunters or diversifying your gear. They never let you have that in Worlds and try to drag out finite content into infinity.

They took a game whose main focus was a challenge to continue to fight objectively better (IE: to learn from past mistakes and make new/better ones), to EARN ones' rewards for completing a hunt, and to continue to be a challenge regardless of how skilled the hunter got. They then made the difficulty ridiculously easy, made the rewards completely irrelevant because the rewards are basically thrown at the hunter, and the repeatability of the hunts so unfun that it isn't worth doing a hunt more than 2-3 times.

Then you have shitty and forcefully injected story that no one wanted, with railroaded mandatory unskippable sections that add fuck all to the game, made multiplayer a horrendously convoluted and idiotic mess that disconnects insanely easily even when a hunter and their friend are both on incredibly reliable and stable connections, and the shit-covered corn-kernel cherry on top of the pile of digital feces cake is the abysmal lack of optimization that makes playing the game feel like a slideshow on top of horrible textures, terrible aesthetic choices, and shit modeling.

They took the core out of a very beloved game, and replaced it with lowest-common-denominator replacements, gutting the game of everything that made a MH game just that.

The opposite issue is in Wilds now where everybody has mostly quit playing because it's real easy to get the gear you want and most meta gear has barely changed since release.

Unlike older monster hunters that set up unending grinds, World (and post) went with a simpler progression where you didnt have minmax every little thing, letting you finish your build enough then focus on helping lower hunters or doversifying your gear.

I have a job. having a strong computer isn't going to fix the shitty unnecessary story, seikrets auto pathing to targets, forced walk and talk segments, piss easy monsters, lack of monsters, and zero endgame.

Some of it does, the story focus, seikret auto-pilot low monster health and triviality of farming all feel like things done in response to all the shit people who don't like the series complain about, but a lot of its problems like the poor performance, bland color palettes and bad skill system split have nothing to do with expanding the audience and are either misguided attempts to appease series fans and/or just plain incompetence.

imo they were probably just too ambitious about adding detailed swarms of small monsters that tax the cpu but don't really feel alive enough to make the player care. maybe they thought hardware would improve enough to handle it but idk they saw how dragons dogma 2 went lol
