I give a fuck. The re remake literally feels like a haunted house because of the dreary and drab color scheme. It’s a mansion and should look like…a mansion. It should look like a place that real people lived. The remake looks nothing like a place that someone would actually live and clearly sacrifices an authentic mansion for a scarier aesthetic, which isn’t a good trade. The use of colors in the remake creates immersion for the player because you have to deal with these rancid zombies despite being in a place that feels and looks somewhat comforting. The bathroom looks neat, paintings are on the walls, and it looks like a place someone once called home, which makes the zombie’s presence more disturbing

I actually really enjoy both originals and remakes, but they're practically alien experiences from one another outside of some shared sequences.
And then you get the 3make which may as well be all of these problems up to the maximum threshold of a 100% new thing barely attempting to even consider the original as a guideline. It was okay as an action game, and dogshit as a remake.

No giant Salazar robot, extremely shortened navistador section, the island is much shorter and completely different, no lava room, the fucking use of yellow all over boxes because players are fucking stupid, the castle was much shorter, no red robed cultist shooting at you, no knight room, no laser room (as Leon), and the parry, while being a good mechanic, kind of took away what made the og re4 combat special, which was strategic placement of your character. It’s not as emphasized in the remake thanks to being able to parry your way out of a lot of situations

I loved the re4 remake. I thought it did a lot of things right and some better than the OG. However, it is simply not a better videogame than the original IMO and also won’t have the historical impact on gaming that the original had and will be remembered as what it is, which is a reiteration of an already existing game. A lot of what gave the original so much character and experimental value is missing in the OG because they have to a cater to a larger, more modern audience. Hence the addition of a clear crafting menu, a parry mechanic, and the removal of riskier/weirder things that were in the og like the lava room and the giant Salazar statue. Not to mention the regenerators feel awful to deal with and so many sections feel like a shell of what they formerly were.
