I hated it at first but learned to like it in its primitive, janky, piece of shit kinda way.

When you understand the context in which it released, and learn to level with it and play on its terms, it's not nearly as bad.

It coasted on the novelty of the style system at time of release. However, we've since gotten DMC4 & 5 which reinforce how awful most of DMC3's enemies are and how excessive their health was.
