Any monster taming games to get beside pal world? A lot of the other indie games like tem tem look lame and forgettable.
>>714846562didn't even know when i got it, but i just checked and i have zwei ilvard insurrection in my library already. do you need to play Ys games in order to make sense or be enjoyable, or can i jump in at any point? i remember playing one on PSP years and years ago and wasn't super into it, but i've seen some of the more modern ones kind of look interesting.

Any thoughts?
>>714846169 (OP)why did you use a 10y old pic for the op
>>714847219It's fairly dogshit, unfortunately. I want to fuck the big bird lady but the actual game sucks. It's your standard AA action adventure with unity story assets in the vein of Atlas Fallen, Immortals of Aeveum, etc. but with really clumsy shadow of the colossus climbing and magic that feels like shit to use. The crafting is novel for requiring generic material types such as wood or metal and being able to find rarer/stronger materials of each type to swap into various blueprints freely, but the issue is the stats are an extremely basic damage/armor/heat resist/cold resist so all crafting comes down to get biggest number.
The story is boring, the characters suck, the art is generic. Play Kena: Bridge of Spirits if you want to be a vaguely brown lady hitting people with sticks for 15 hours.

I'm in Xenoblade withdrawal, any games on Steam that can scratch the same itch? No MMO.
What I'm looking for:
>(Action) RPG with free roam movement (characters can jump, map is either large open zones or full open world, there's little to no invisible walls). NO chibified world map.
>No random encounters
>Good worldbuilding/lore
>Great music
>Great, consistent sense of scale in world design
I've already played both NieRs.

>>714848132Played both, they're both great. Not sure what you're looking for but Nine Sols is brutally hard (harder than any Fromsoft game IMO) and has a huge combat focus, Another Crab's Treasure is generally easygoing and has more exploration, you kind of have to gimp yourself by not using the overpowered magic abilities if you want to have a good challenge especially in the back half of the game. I think Nine Sols is probably the better game overall but ACT is the one I'd rather replay right now.

My thoughts so far
>Chants of Sennaar
Pretty fun but the language part was easier than expected, also few slightly annoying stealth sections but nothing that bad, slightly under 8 hours to complete it fully
>Digseum

>Crime Scene Cleaner
Exactly what I expected, more of Viscera Cleanup Detail 2.0 than Powerwash Simulator but not in a way bad
>The rest

>>714853519่ชๅใง่ฉฑใ
>>714853869>language part was easier than expectedHaven't played it yet but I think that was a given. It's clearly a story-driven exploration game, not a hardcore decyphering puzzle game
>>714854192Story driven is a really strong word for what it is, it's mostly a somewhat linear exploration game, like half of the story happens in the final zone
Also while the language part is pretty easy it's also pretty well done with each language being pretty distinct even if simple from each other both in vocabulary and grammar while also keeping plenty of fun differences that come from language barriers
>>714852774Supraland is more of a puzzler, but you might get a kick out of it. It's still about exploran and collectan.

>>714847007I got every achievement in Eternights. It's decent if a lil janky. No harem ending either
>>714856814It's not unplayable bad, but I've had zero desire to revisit it. Might even be fun in coop. The biggest problem is only 2 weapons and universal ammo, and the encounters are really spammy, clearly designed for coop. The weapon tinkering is kinda neat, but I'd rather have fucking amazing weapons off the bat, like the previous games. There is a boss fight that repeats exactly the same way like 5 times, it's farcical. The story is like 60% high school drama around Isaac's new gf and a mean jock.

>>714866579It's really disappointing compared to previous titles. On its own, it's still better than the average farming sim on Steam (it's a really low bar, to be fair), and the bachelorettes are cute.

>>714846169 (OP)I bought this + Darkest Dungeon 2.
DD2 is a lot of fun and while I prefer the hamlet from 1 I really love the animations and combat from 2. It is great.
Monster Train 2 seems decent so far but I am having trouble getting absorbed in it like DD2. I think it is just the incredibly cheap presentation. Hard to go from the beautiful animations of DD2 to the very flash game style of MT2. However it is still fun.
Barony I am torn on. I like the concept, but I keep dying relatively early on and the early game is basically the same every time. There are like 2-3 enemy types for the first, what, 6 or 7 floors? It is pretty wild. I also find the inventory to be shockingly small.
I beat DD2 though, and while I am plinking away at MT2 I am kind of interested in getting one more roguelike. I want one released relatively recently though, since I've played most of the classics. I hope that STS2 comes out sometime soon and is good.

>>714882757You're like me where you only buy games you know you'll enjoy it they are on sale unlike niggers ITT where they'll buy anything on sale but never play them.
>>714883069I learned my lesson when I bought several EA games that were on sale because their updates promised a release "soon" only for all of them to get mired down and still be in EA. Now I really only want to buy games I am going to immediately play or will be next up in line if I am doing something currently.
>>714883180>buying EA>everI wouldn't even pirate their shit. But that's a good attitude to have. If you're not going to play it soon don't bother getting it because it'll always be there and there will always be better sales down the road.
>>714883298Well, I got conned because it is like "Okay guys, we're releasing soon and the price will go up after :)" and then they do not release soon. So yeah, I just figured that if I really wanna play a game in EA just wait till it releases and if I have to spend $5 more to play it at release then so be it, better than buying it and watching as the devs suddenly start only putting out minor bug fixes while they constantly tease the big 1.0 update coming.

>>714885215Inscription is not that great of a deck builder but is like 10/10 atmosphere and enjoyable for the narrative. So I'd say get that if you're looking for a narrative game and not an infinitely replayable deckbuilder.
>>714847194Monster Train 2 is part deck builder part monster builder. You can focus on creatures and buffing them up, or a spell heavy dick, or equipment, etc. It actually contains all of the game's original clans that are eventually unlockable so there really isn't much of a reason to play MT1 anymore.

>>714883298>>714883606as far as I can recall I've only ever bought 3 early access, Gnomoria for $2, Necesse for $5, and Elin for $20. I put a couple hundred hours into each of them and only got them because I knew I would, so they were a great value for me. even if Elin never leaves EA I've played that thing more than any game I have in years, I won't have any regrets about it. you just have to be picky about what EA you get
>>714886079I backed the Divinity: Original Sin kickstarter. I got the Early Access code and replayed the first chapter with every new major update to the point that I got so burned out on it I only played the game years after release when I was gonna play D:OS2. The same thing happened with Darkest Dungeon 1, where I burned myself out in the EA.
That taught me to just not play EA games that I am truly interested in because I will probably not play when the full release happens. I prefer to wait until 1.0.

A passion project made by a dude who wanted to tell a sword-and-sorcery Hyborian/Lovecraftian style story, its surprising deep for a platformer. Think Rastan or classicvanias with the aesthetic of Golden Axe, but there are a variety of level styles besides just platforming standard scroll to the right, including auto scroll, switchback player defined mazes or multiple paths both left/right and up/down, "mine cart" levels, a couple of horizontal shmup levels, boss encounters and more Multiple characters with their own mechanics, a bit of progression thanks to items that give small stat bonuses and more give variation. You can even play co-op online up to 4 at once! There are secret bosses and the true ending available only on a high difficulty unlocked after beating the higher of two 'normal' modes! The graphics are handmade pixel art and they got composers from the old days to do their music (ie strangely, the SNES Mario Kart composer is one) which all fits well. There is a story unlocked bit by bit, level by level that you can read on the map/level select, or you can ignore it; I do think most anons who like Hyborian / Lovecraftian style adventures as its thematically on point about the hubris of Atlantis opening an invasion of planar entities etc.
Pretty much everything anons complain about modern games is fixed here and its only like $8 during the sale.
>>714858491Overall an improvement. Combat's more interesting (though still a slog by endgame, no getting around that), scope is larger, map is bigger. The only real drag is that after playing West once or twice the basic routine of Shadows is a little stale, but I still enjoyed my 30 hours with it.

Turn based, or real time, not CRPG or isometric, I want to play through a story.
>>714846169 (OP)How's Metro Exodus? Been loving 2033 and I already have Last Light from a free drop
>>714889491Its insane to me that SE has not ported Final Mix to PC via Steam. The fact they had the gall to complain about not enough sales for NEO despite it being a follow up to the first one makes no fucking sense given that most of their potential playerbase on PC cant play the previous game unless they emulate; you pretty much have to use the Switch version to get the most content heavy / complete version o the game, but - to my knowledge - I'm not sure there's a version on the Switch that has JP audio/voice .
The same thing is true for
>Bravely Default II despite it being a totally different game, the fucking 2 in the title meant that a lot of people didn't play it because BD1 wasn't ported to PC. I'm hoping the Switch 2 version will soon be made available on Steam.
>>714888759I didn't own anything before so what you can do in that case is
>get Part One for 5 bucks from the store page>get the upgrade pack from https://store.steampowered.com/sub/1230412/That upgrade pack is hidden from the front page for some reason. I only found it when looking through the steam forum for info what I need to buy. Part One include missions from hitman 1. The upgrade pack gives you all missions from 2 and 3.
Actually now that I look at the store again the standard edition costs less than buying these two things separately. It should include everything and makes what I said obsolete. Still posting tho.
Btw both methods won't give you the DLC mission for hitman 3
>>714888252Not quite sure for your case but maybe you want the upgrade pack I linked? But if you can't play anything I'd say you need to buy it again. Shame because I really like the game so far
>>714890365It's pretty good.
>>714890380The controls for the first one was designed around the DS and barely adapted to the switch.
Any good platformers? (indie acceptable)
Or good weeb stuff? (only real games here, no indies)
Or maybe a comfy racer?
>>714890534Not just the control, whole systems were designed for the DS.
It really is custom made for the system.
>>714890685I'm playing it on deck with Eden and I have to exclusively use the touchscreen.
>>714890380Dude NEO was sent out to die. SE told retailers to hide the fact it was on switch, it got so little marketing people confused it with the anime release, and when it finally limped onto PC years later it was with no marketing the same week as Persona 5 Royal.
>>714889491I tried but my DS L/R buttons are done for and it the control scheme really sucks both emulated and on the Switch.
>>714890790Yeah it's truly shit. I wish someone made a control scheme to fix the game. I don't program so I wouldn't know where to start.
>>714890934>I wish someone made a control scheme to fix the game.Yeah nah you'd have to redesign the whole game as well.
>>714890534Right, but the Switch version is perfectly playable both on touchscreen or with a joycon. Hell, it would probably be even easier/more authentic to use a mouse on a PC version, even without a touchscreen or tablet (which is of course also available if a player owns one, including something like Steam Deck)
>>714890778SE is THE most uneven of all major JP publishers. Sometimes they do things just fine with a concurrent PC release with JP audio intact, sometimes they do all matter of nonsensical bullshit. As I recall, NEO also was released first for 6+ months of fucking Epic Store exclusivity when it came to PC, long before it arrived on Steam. .
>>714890402Text is in Spanish but is says the aforementioned "you already own it, you won't receive a second copy". I could use your method but it would be more expensive than buying WoA, but I can't buy WoA. The deluxe edition seems like a ripoff. I just want Hitman 3, the campaign dlcs and the freelancer and coop stuff, it shouldn't be this hard. If I could have all the games in the same WoA engine/package it would be better though.
>>714888048>kvetching with Dig 2 that lowdid you get 1 for free a few weeks back, and haven't played it? I don't see why else you'd have the sequel in the cart and not buy it instantly.
Is the Tony Hawk 1&2 Pro Skater remake any good?
>>714846373>platformers>2Dkaze and the wild masks (donkey kong country ripoff)
>3Dpseudoregalia (3D metroidvania)

>>714891272a list of games i bought this sale
>>714891335In the steam sale thread? How dare you!?
>>714891265meant for
>>714890629>>714891193It's fine, all the levels are faithfully reproduced, although you get modern moves like revert landing etc. that wasn't in 1 and 2.
Not all the music is there though, and the game feels more "bland" because of the better graphics. There is a lot of side objective shit thrown in that I didn't feel like completing.
The games are very short if you play through it only once.
Since 3+4 is about to get released, it's likely 1+2 will get a deeper discount soon.
>>714891265If you liked Pseudoregalia and Cavern of Dreams I recommend looking at Corn Kidz 64 and Metro Gravity.
>>714891117Holy mother of shovelware
>>714891615>Metro GravityI will NOT buy your game until you fix the godawful resource hogging.
>>714891615bought corn kidz, will wait for metro gravity to go on sale
I have Yellow Taxi in my backlog as well, it is supposed to be good, we'll see
Think i'm going to finally get Hitman from Fanatical since it's cheaper.
>>714891751$0.01 fanaticoins have been deposited in your wallet.
These are the games I've gotten from the sale so far. So far I've spent most my time on Ginga Force and Blue Revolver.
>>714891751Hitman is one of the games that could and should be pirated without any pangs of guilt since the publisher actively hates you. Download it with Peacock so you can skip all the always online DRM shit.
>>714891990>ginga force>blue revolver How are they?
>>714891137I think it did say that for me as well because I had this free pack where you get to play one mission. Because you have the game in your library already you won't get a new entry in it, that's what I think they mean
>but I can't buy WoAIs that text the only thing stopping you? I think it will work but I can understand that you are worried with this cancerous publishing

>>714892190Ginga Force is really weird since it has a story mode you slowly progress through 10 stages of, each of the 10 stages also has three difficulties with separate unlocks and they're meant to be played in order, I'm currently working my way through Normal Stage 6 after going through all 10 stages on Easy, but the easiest criticism is that it most the weapons you get at least up to this point in the game feel kinda weak, not helped by the ammo mechanic that punishes you for holding fire all the time and wants you to constantly grab the blue ammo cubes that drop from enemies. Bullet visibility is also pretty hit or miss with some bullets not having clear edges, or some backgrounds being too busy for their own good. The boss fights and OST are still super good though, I'm gonna try and stick to it in hopes that unlocking Level 3 weapons makes the game feel better.
As for Blue Revolver, this one is just amazing and I'm having a blast with it, it's more along the lines of the Raizing games where the game has a difficulty level that will seesaw depending on how well you're doing, small ammo pickups that power your special weapon, which is used for scoring, which itself is pretty intuitive, kill 8 enemies, then try to blow up as many enemies as possible with your special weapon in a short timespan, repeat. I also love the artstyle and especially the soundtrack, both the new versions for Double Action and the original tracks. Just a super easy recommend all around.
