I've played it tons of times. I've 100%'d it multiple times, before trophies/achievements were even a thing. I'm most likely gonna get it anyways once the reviews are out and there are no major issues.

I still don't feel like talking about it because it's current year and people are faggots who will just bitch about real life shit.

There is, and it helps that the game is still instanced like the first game, so we don't have to deal with typical open world pitfalls like traversal stutter.

People keep overhyping this story so hard.
They had a version of the game running on 360. In all likelihood, it was an early test build that was just a stripped down version of Metal Gear Arcade's assets.

>No, I actually just read past a couple clickbait headlines.
>They wouldn't, as you and many others imply, have a fully featured and functioning version of MGS4 on 360.
I have been posting the actual fucking quotes by MGS4's assistant producer for fucking years, dumbass.

>During my first week as a Konami employee working on Metal Gear Solid 4, Iโ€™ll never forget seeing the profound disappointment on my colleaguesโ€™ faces when they began to dig deep into the first-run PlayStation 3 development kits.
>Like the public at large, the Kojima Productions team believed Sonyโ€™s hyperbole about its incredible next-gen hardware; however, when it came down to actually pushing pixels through the PS3, everyone was underwhelmed. The team was warned ahead of time that the hardware would be difficult to develop for, but they had no idea how bad it would end up being.

>Despite how downtrodden my colleagues were with developing on PS3, most of them were still hardcore Sony fans and were not in favor of spending resources on such a test. They believed MGS 4 would look and run terribly on Microsoftโ€™s older and inferior hardware.
>One fateful day, the Konami R&D team hosted a meeting where we got to see the fruits of their laborโ€”Metal Gear Solid 4 running beautifully and smoothly on an Xbox 360. As one of the few unabashed Xbox fans in the office, I was excited.

>The prevailing belief around the industry was that Sony must have secured an exclusive deal for the game. It wasnโ€™t true. Had Kojima chosen to port the game to Xbox 360, his bosses would surely have approved the decision, but he wasnโ€™t ready to make the jump.

Likely utilizing the already existing assets for Metal Gear Arcade, which was designed for Windows.
>>MGS4 would need to be remade from the ground up or it will never leave the PS3
Didn't say that, but honestly? Yeah it would.
For a start, who knows how much shit is tied to its inconsistent framerate, RAY vs REX runs at like 20FPS, the main game at 30-45, certain sections at 15. Will the Act 3 motorcycle chase even be playable if they up it to 60FPS?
All the commercial FMVs are trapped in 720p and used real actors, and knowing Konami's history of contracts that is sure to be a shitshow to bring over.
The game itself does actually utilize unique PS3 hardware- sixaxis is an occasional mechanic and the PSX emulation is used for the opening of Act 4. The former could be replicated with gyro, but the latter would require hooking in a new emulator or cutting it altogether.
All the Apple branding would have to go, which means picking over every mission briefing and completely changing the iPod. Would have to re-examine the music and ensure they still have the licenses for third party tracks, or they might just cut the iPod entirely.

It's an endless list of shit that would need to be cleared or changed, and such a ginormous headache that I cannot imagine it being sold for $40 as part of a low-effort HD collection. The last Master Collection had basically no effort whatsoever put into it in regards to the games themselves, so I cannot imagine how or why MGS4 would be the one game to get the special treatment. I'd sooner anticipate a remake they could sell at full price.

>For a start, who knows how much shit is tied to its inconsistent framerate, RAY vs REX runs at like 20FPS, the main game at 30-45, certain sections at 15.
Kojimbo boasted that game would run at 60 fps prior to release and we already know it runs well at 60 fps when emulated.
>All the commercial FMVs are trapped in 720p and used real actors
How did that stop Delta from releasing and reusing the voice lines? You dumbasses always claim there's some license shit and somehow they end up with re-releasing them every time.
>The game itself does actually utilize unique PS3 hardware- sixaxis
Literal gimmick. The only thing that is actually limited to sixaxis is octocamo reset for no reason, and jiggle physics. Anything else can be done on analog. You retards would pretend that MGS3 in undoable on any modern console due to pressure sensitive controls.
>PSX emulation is used for the opening of Act 4.
Can you guess what they used for MGS1 in Master Collection on all platforms?
>All the Apple branding would have to go
More irrelevant license shit that can be replaced in a day or two.

>Kojimbo boasted that game would run at 60 fps prior to release and we already know it runs well at 60 fps when emulated.
Forcing the game to 60FPS in an emulator is not the same as it actually being made to run at 60FPS.
>How did that stop Delta from releasing and reusing the voice lines?
Stopped Delta from reusing stock footage actually.
Hell, adjacent to Metal Gear, the first three SH games literally cannot be rereleased due to Konami not even owning the voice acting in them. So yeah, I would anticipate them bungling the sole game to use live actors.
>You retards would pretend that MGS3 in undoable on any modern console due to pressure sensitive controls.
Both it and MGS2 were made significantly worse by the lack of them, yeah.
>Can you guess what they used for MGS1 in Master Collection on all platforms?
Yeah, but now they have to hook that emu into MGS4. That's the issue.
>More irrelevant license shit that can be replaced in a day or two.
Sure buddy.

Even if one were to believe your idea that ALL of this could be done in a single day, that would still be FAR MORE EFFORT than the entire first volume received.

The following could all be included in Volume 2 with justification and minimal effort required:
>Revengeance
Has a fully featured PC version, not on any modern platforms.
>Peace Walker HD
Was already in HDC, not on any modern platforms or PC.
>Metal Gear Solid V
Not on Switch 2, and they can further justify it by including the artbook and scrapped Episode 51 bonus disc.
>Ac!d 1&2 + PO
PSP emulation.
>Ghost Babel
GBC emulation.
>Twin Snakes
This is the big iffy one since I don't think GCN emulation has ever been done for a major release. I can easily see it being skipped if there's no emulation / no resources that make porting it easy.
>Mobile Titles
Easily emulated.

There you go.

I played it for the first time at 35 last year
It's a fun trip down nostalgia mood, playing PS1/2 games for the first time. Also I only played Death Stranding before so I was 100% new on Kojima. It was a pleasant surprise but it did get old and janky. 1 was fun if you manage to get back into "old time mood" and forget its flaws. 2 was incredibly based and fun despite some of the most ridiculous dialogs ever. I didn't like 3 that much but the characters are cool. No matter my opinion they're worth your time just so you can understand why they have that "classic aura" around them and forge your own opinion.

Theres a lot of product placement, some of that integral to the plot. In order to have a chance for that port to make it, you would need to edit out large portions of content, and redub lines. Which is impossible now given how all the dev teams are out.

just don't take it too seriously. The nuggets of faux intellectualism are overshadowed by Power Rangers-tier character writing but that's part of the charm.

It's a Japanese anime that draws plays on Western movie tropes and culture. Metal Gear Solid 1 on PlayStation is particularly good on presentation, has the best English acting of the whole series and it all goes down hill from there.

I really recommend emulating MGS 1 on duckstation because the version in the MC/HD collection is adulterated. The old PC native port of it is also vastly inferior with a lot of stuff left broken. The remake on GC also a mixed bag with absolutely garbage voice acting and broken mechanics and some shitty graphics, but better AI and overall better gameplay.

I would give such person a task to remake the first mgs, not 1:1 but to reinvent the whole thing from the ground up while creating new canon for next generation of players and anime enjoyers (mgs1 was largely anime coded). it's absolutely doable but is konami willing to take such risk?

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/does-metal-gear-solid-need-a-new-kojima-konami-have-many-people-in-mind-but-its-difficult
"So in terms of someone to sort of replace that creative director role, there isn't really a single person that has taken over," Okamura told me through a translator. "But rather, we've created this new Metal Gear Solid team - we've got a great team full of young new creative minds, a very talented team that are currently working on this game together.
"And within this team there are many people that we think in the future as well could definitely be people like that, who could create these new ideas, have these creative visions, and this is definitely a team that we would like to develop and grow into roles like that. But there isn't a specific person that has taken over, necessarily, it's much more of a team effort."
Okamura himself seems like he might have the knowhow to cover it, having worked with Kojima on a bunch of Metal Gear Solid games and Zone Of The Enders, but as he went on to explain, the particular blend of designer chops and salesmanship embodied by Kojima is hard to replicate. "With his game design, he's very particular about very detailed aspects of what he creates. He's also very good at just creating a product and selling that product and knowing how to promote that product from start to finish. And to find someone like that, who is good at all of those things in the same capacity, is quite difficult. So it's not like we can just go and find someone else that can do all of the same things, and it's not something that I think I could do by myself.
"Obviously we have a lot of respect towards his creative vision," Okamura added. "And in terms of our new team, we'd like to create these games in our own way with our own talented team that we have, with our own creative ideas for the current generation of fans, and the next generation of fans as well."

They said they wanted to be very faithful after all. But I don't think it's the actual same. the only animations which are the same are the main cutscenes, old footage also had a few things from V

A lot of people don't remember but i do. MGS2 was not well received because of the whackiness, the graphics, the bosses, the level, no snake and the weird story, MGS3 on the other hand was considered a fukken masterpiece. Both are fine, honestly MGS was good until 4 started blending the line between action/stealth.

It might include new things, new modes, new costumes, new MP, etc. Play mgs3 subsistence before it releases, it's worth it and it doesn't look like UE5 garbo.
