Likely utilizing the already existing assets for Metal Gear Arcade, which was designed for Windows.
>>MGS4 would need to be remade from the ground up or it will never leave the PS3
Didn't say that, but honestly? Yeah it would.
For a start, who knows how much shit is tied to its inconsistent framerate, RAY vs REX runs at like 20FPS, the main game at 30-45, certain sections at 15. Will the Act 3 motorcycle chase even be playable if they up it to 60FPS?
All the commercial FMVs are trapped in 720p and used real actors, and knowing Konami's history of contracts that is sure to be a shitshow to bring over.
The game itself does actually utilize unique PS3 hardware- sixaxis is an occasional mechanic and the PSX emulation is used for the opening of Act 4. The former could be replicated with gyro, but the latter would require hooking in a new emulator or cutting it altogether.
All the Apple branding would have to go, which means picking over every mission briefing and completely changing the iPod. Would have to re-examine the music and ensure they still have the licenses for third party tracks, or they might just cut the iPod entirely.
It's an endless list of shit that would need to be cleared or changed, and such a ginormous headache that I cannot imagine it being sold for $40 as part of a low-effort HD collection. The last Master Collection had basically no effort whatsoever put into it in regards to the games themselves, so I cannot imagine how or why MGS4 would be the one game to get the special treatment. I'd sooner anticipate a remake they could sell at full price.
