When you actually get to play the game it's fine

AC Valhalla copied that too and it's around the same number. AC Valhalla also has tons of activities to do in open world such as river raids, hunting for assassin bureaus, pillaging settlements, building your own settlement etc. Not saying AC Valhalla is a better game than RDR2 but R* open worlds had like no content besides open world itself and main story for years.

that is a hard question. when rdr2 is good it can be very memorable (such as the various bank shootouts), but we so very rarely see those moments. death stranding is never good. death stranding is boring but it at least feels like a game. a very boring, game.
Looking back I enjoyed many aspects of rd2 in retrospect but I would never actually want to go back and play it again, the game is a slog. though I would never want to actually play it again.
I have no such memories of DS.
despite all of that if you put a gun to my head told me I HAD to replay one for 40 hours (no cutscene skipping), i'd choose death stranding. rdr2 feels more like work despite DS being literal work.
DS is also difficult to discuss because of the cult of lizard IQ retards who think it's the greatest game ever. many are in this thread i'm sure.

Although I love the cowboy sim-ness of RDR2, it can really feel like a chore to play sometimes. Seath Stranding (1 in my case, not played 2 yet) is oddyl compelling. Maybe it's to do with being able to switch up your tasks and go abut restoring roads and the like, or the feeling of actually having to plan to go on a mission?
The most fun I've had in RDR2 is going about without the main story, just hunting and finding horses, stealing wagons. The story missions themselves are fine I guess, but god they drag on.

I found RDR2 to be incredibly boring.

RDR2 is a movie game.

There are long and boring cutscenes.
Theare are in-game cutscenes where you're stuck walking for 30 minutes at a time, following some guy and being forced to hear him.

Even the gameplay itself is cinematic. The way your character moves, with that incredibly annoying "inertia", you can't run in camp or in houses, it takes 2 minutes to loot a cupboard, 30 seconds to loot one dead guy. There are so many animations and small annoying things that make the gameplay slow and very annoying.

Meanwhile, DS is a game with a lot of cinematics.
Like the first 3 hours, I think I played 30 minutes. And those cinematics are mocapped Hollywood actors, which I hate.

But when the game lets you play, the gameplay is fine. Sure you might find it boring, literally planning a route across devastated landscapes and carrying boxes, but it soothed my autism. But actually playing is responsive, while actually playing RDR2 is still a fucking bore.

Both can barely be considered video games with the amount of time you spend doing nothing, and the worst thing is that even from a narrative standpoint they are so lacking that you actively harm your experience when paying attention to the plot.
Ultimately both Death stranding and rdr2 fail at being a video game or a movie feeling like a real waste of time and money.

DS has lots of cinematics but when you're playing you're actually playing. Like you can call it a walking sim all you want, it's an actual video game with lots of mechanics. RDR2 also has lots of mechanics, but you're literally punished for using them with the game telling you "No no no no! You're not playing the canon way! Mission Failed!" It has so much scripted bullshit which makes it incredibly annoying to replay.

This annoys me the most. Death Stranding, despite being a slow game at least still feels like a video game. Movement still feels gamey rather than trying to emulate real life. The way you can pick up packages while sprinting and just throw them on your back in an unrealistic way without some long winded animation every time automatically makes DS a better game than RDR2.

aside from the fact that both games feature large open worlds, they don’t really have much in common. RDR2 stays immersive and relaxing all the way through. it’s basically an adult make believe game, like most GTA games. you often just roam around aimlessly and enjoy the scenery. DS2 is very different. it’s much more gamey. The controls are more responsive, you constantly unlock new gadgets and mechanics, some of which are pretty goofy. and you’re always transporting something. I personally love both games, but I can play DS1 and DS2 for much longer stretches.
