Why exactly are games $60, $70, $80? If I want to go and buy the most hotly anticipated movie, it's gonna run me $25. If I want to go to the book store and buy the most hotly anticipated hardcover book, it's gonna run me $25. But even some rinky-dink no-name game can run $40, or $50. And I won't even own the game because it would be digital, most likely. What gives?
Movies cap out at three hours long

Also, the industry is dying and trying to milk consumers before going under.
It's always been more expensive since vidya you can get more enjoyment from it and replaying it compared to film where most people treat it as a one and done experience. Paper is much cheaper than DVDs. The prices for vidya going up is a good thing and the only thing delaying the AAA collapse which is inevitable.
Budget games run anywhere from 10~30 dollars. That's not mentioning sales. It's been pretty cheap to be a gamer unless you only buy AAA games the day they come out.
>>714866083 (OP)>If I want to go and buy the most hotly anticipated movie, it's gonna run me $25.Okay, but how many hours do you get from the movie? Games aren't expensive unless you're buying shit that you don't even play.
>>714866083 (OP)The best games in the world sell for $30 or less.
>>714866451>Okay, but how many hours do you get from the movie?Does it matter? AAA movies and AAA games have relatively similar development costs.
>>714866654>Does it matter?Yes, it does. If you release a game that's 3 hours, then it's entirely possible that nobody buys your game. People who play games don't care how much you spent.
>>714866771Took me less than 3 hours to beat Sonic Mania. Still loved it, and it's under 30 bucks.
>>714866882>Took me less than 3 hours to beat Sonic Mania. Still loved itThank you for telling me. I played this game for 10,000 hours and it was free. I could have watched a lot of movies instead, but if I can have infinite fun without spending, then I will. That's the mindset of a gamer.
>>714866451Notice how he conveniently ommited the book?
>>714867160Are you asking me a question about myself? I don't give a fuck about your book. This board is full of text that's complete shit, so I do enough reading. I would not pay to read. In fact, I spend all day getting rid of text.
>>714866451>763 hours of BG3how much gayer are you now than before you started?
>>714867535Gay enough that I have most of the board auto filtered, and the shitskin NPCs crawl into every thread to get away from each other. Feel free to camp the thread after I filter it. If you check every thread you have open or open new ones, I won't be in any of them.
Back in the 90s, full games were £50 but you could rent them for 3 days at game rental shops to see if you like it or not. Then you can commit to owning the cartridge.
>>714867713Nope, they all charge similiar prices, that's a sign of a (publisher) cartel, and that's (((it))).
