MM had slightly less than a year dev cycle. (OoT was at least 5 years iirc.) The end result is about what you'd expect when they're trying to pad playtime (by forcing repetition) and reuse as many assets as possible while still having everything take place in a new region/world. I mean it's a semi ish cool concept, but from a developer perspective that seems fucking nightmarish to implement. You basically have to program a set script/screenplay for each character in the game affected by time, instead of just plopping down an NPC in a location. Yes but there are some that may be tough (anju and kafei quest)

If you play you should get all the masks though, I fully believe that is the way the game is meant to be played, you get the fierce diety mask at the end for it as a reward and doing it let's you explore all that the game has to offer. It is the Zelda game with the best side content (and story) bar none
