ryukishi has/had a good sense for asethetic design and despite the shortcomings in his art he can do expressions really well and these two things are shortcuts to letting the human brain empathize with something, its the same mental shortcuts that cause so many people to think sonic is cool and not a bunch of weird circles or why people latch onto 2hu so much when zun can't draw limbs
