Why are Nocturnean men so much bigger than Cadian Men?
-Average Cadian Girl
>>714907396 (OP)I've spent days on act 3 simply because it always makes me lose the will to play, same thing happened with Void Shadows
What a garbage act, completely kills the flow of the game
>>714908236I like it
Commoragh is cool and I like deldars

>>714908298Alushinyrra is a million times better than this garbage
>>714908387I agree commoragh could have been handled better in a few ways but I don't think it ruins the game
You can do it in a single day
>>714907396 (OP)Just finished the Thassera stuff. Really loved the fuedal world, but wish it was longer and we learned more about it. The Heartless stuff was not as fun. Solomorne kinda sucks. Always felt like a liability.
>>714908574Feudal worlds are probably better to live on than the average hive world
>>714908520All the effort they put into it could have gone into act 4.

>>714911689>which they already didI'm on hard and kibellah can clear any boss the moment my icono officer clicks the "I win" button
I have yet to find a single enemy that survives the I win button, and since my officer always gets first roll in initiative.... yeah.
I didn't even minmax this, I don't even remember what talent gives me first turn, it just happened that the game just broke
And if I "just don't use it" then arch militant ulfar can still solo any encounter too.
I don't even read the items I pick up any more, i assure you I have not optimized my build, the game just needs tougher enemies and weaker momentum abilities.
So....
Destroy Cumrag or leave it intact?

>>714915654Vigdis asks what happened, you tell her that Achileas was a traitor, and Heinrix starts seething muttering "lies"
It makes no sense, you can literally talk to him about it on Cumrag and he accepts it, hell he even curses Achilleas when you're first captured

Takes forever to get anything done in this fucking game. Combat is too slow due to turn based, and way to much text. Zero nuiance or mysterious dialogs. Everything is spelled out. 3d areas look terrible compared to 2d backgrounds. Terrible vendor reputation system and itemization. Not to mention loading screens.
>loading screens to leave area
>loading screens to go to bridge
>loading screens to go map
>suddenly on map screen "oh I need to talk to you on the bridge!"
>loading screens to go to bridge
>talk with person for 2 seconds
>loading screens back to map
>loading screens going into system
>loading screens going down to planet
thinking of doing officer vanguard hive world lex(the one about being a leader) and going pistol and shield and basically just being the guy who buffs everything around him

>>714908039Cause the only "nocturnean" men still alive are genetically engineered super soldiers with no sex drive.

>>714912568You don't actually destroy it but the only morally correct option is opening the warp rift and letting the Deldar in that part of the city get raped to death.
>>714922547I actually like how vendors work in this one. Not often a decent alternative to usual spend gold, get items.
>>714923321I know. Also I may have taken the heretic option just to tell the frankensteiner "Fuck you."
What's funnier is that Argenta pushed his shit in afterward.
>>714923517Few things whose shit Argenta doesn't push in.
>>714922547Agree about the loading screens
Hard disagree on vendors, it's a very shrewd way to simulate merchants while you are so disgustingly reach you could afford anything any time
>Bring 4 psykers to my triumph
>>714924905I only count 2 and one sensitive.
Is this game supposed to be really easy? I picked Daring and enemies seem like they do 3 damage with 15% chance to hit
>>714925046The game is pathetically easy to break if you aren't room temperature IQ.
>>714925046Combat needs a rebalance at minimum. Full rebuild ideally.
Shit's just too easy to spam buffs and abilities to get free damage 'n dodge.
>>714925189TTK needs to be massively toned down and initiative needs to be fixed.
>>714925325*toned down meaning needs to be increased of course
How do you speed up combat animations? Mine are set on toggle but I can't find a key for it.
>>714925046It ramps up through act 1 so you don't get instamogged in prologue.
You can pick the last difficulty if you want, I lost some fights on that one.
>>714926056Isn't it usually space by default?
>>714925325I know what you mean, but with the number of enemies you fight going up to 30+ at certain points, complete with bosses who can reach near or over 1K HP late game, whole encounters would need to be changed.
>>714926337Paradoxically, the more enemies in a fight, the easier it gets since most of them just feed you momentum. And that's not even taking into accounts bullshit like Exe+Inevatibility goggles (+later that stacking Medicae per kill trinket for extra bullshit).
>>714926572Indeed.
Heroic actions pop like candy afterward, thus snowballing things.
Resolve gain would either be nerfed or totally redone.
>>714926837I just fear that Owlcat is going to nerf player abilities into the ground without taking into account that the game is kinda balanced around the player getting to prevent the enemy from doing anything, since when the enemy actually does get to act, they tend to just outright kill half your team, as seen with Yremeryss (if you kill her with a non-burst attack anyway) or an unlucky low level red route encounter with multiple Bloodletters.
Well prologue done and I'm locked in, time to aoe expose weakness then drop a fat load of Promethium on the enemies.
>>714927536Yeah, the unique pain engine you have to fight in Cumrag was fucking ridiculous. And Argenta goes down way too easy (though that might be my fault).
Yremeryss I weirdly didn't have much of a problem with. It's her incubi that annoyed me.
When does Solomorne's Act 4 quest start?
Besides the one to get him back from the prison
>>714929735Do a main quest.
>>714929904Is the same true for Void Shadows? I know that they changed it so it won't trigger immediately after coming back from Cumrag
did the dlc add anything useful for a pyromancer executioner?
>>714929949Void Shadows starts pretty early on after the prologue (provided it's a fresh save). Anywhere after dealing with Eurac-V or the prison colony in my experience.
But yeah, doing a few bits in the Chapter's MQ should trigger it. Or making warp jumps.
>>714907396 (OP)I just bought this game on a sale. What am I in for? I've played X-com games from the DOS age up.
>>714929949Void shadows just do a couple system jumps.
>>714930329I like it. Perhaps if you are into XCom you will find it easy because it doesn't focus only on the combat
>>714930329It's severely lacking in polish.
Overall I'd say it's serviceable at best with gameplay, good for setting and fashion and text adventure with occasional speech checks.
>>714929904I already did Footfall though and nothing
Finishing Quetza now

Khan and Felrond did the dance that is known across all races a dance of life and fertility
The khan was mighty and rough and animalistically thrust and thrust again with a barbaric rythem
Felrond was no ameteur though and flexed and relaxed and body in the perfect way to avoid critical damage while driving the khan over the edge
Clenching at just the right time to tingle the Khan's nuerons with his tightness

And if you simply say "Actually Cassia, that's kinda bad, a ruler shouldn't treat his subjects like that" she immediately gives her own servants vox implants.
She actually thought it was a normal thing and nobody ever told her differently.
>>714964057anon, everyone is "evil" in WH40K. Kibellah is a serial killer death cultist who has probably killed thousands of innocents (she's still cute tho). Cassia is just a snobby and cuddled upper-class noble bordering on autistic.
>>714959161Ship raid is one of the best mission in the game.
Tharessa is a fun new world to interact with and shows variety of Imoperium well.
Judgments and Lawtism in the rest of the missions are interesting too.
Ongoing plot and NPCs are good, but not as good as Void Shadows, same for overarching plot.
Solomorne lawtism is appreciated for his commentray and interjections, but his quests/standard events are not as interesting as Kibs.
Arbites and Overseer are not broken like executioner, but they are very fun options that add variety of builds and approaches in how you can break the game. Except for poor operative.
If Void Shadows is a 9, this is an 8.
>>714965153What I liked about Lex is that this time around, it isn't immediately obvious who's a traitor and who isn't in the overarching plot. For as great as Void Shadows was, they kinda spoiled too much and laid it on a bit too thick in parts for any of the revelations to be truly surprising.

now that we have an arbites, what are your hopes for the next dlc lads? gimme all the turbo copes, the hopeful ones, the reasonable ones
some mercenary companions like a delf corsair or a ork freeboota would be (somewhat) realistic, but the thing im coping for the most is a chaos sorcerer companion who over the course of the game tempts you to chaos or a shackled tyranid id name "princess" to unleash on your enemies
>>714975987bratty Deldar mesugaki who needs RT correction
>>714975987The game's chaos plotline needs a lot more, I just finished Eufrates yesterday and it's so incredibly anticlimactic I was actually mad.
So I hope we get something related to chasing Kunrad around, as for companions they have a couple of options but there are rumors of a cut companion that I would really like to see: originally a daemonette was going to be in the game for heretics.
>>714975987we already got a delf and Dark heresy has the corsair, as well as kroot and ogryn.
If I had guess we'll probably get a proper professional soldier since it's a character niche that hasn't been filled yet. Abelard and Jae kinda touch on it but one is a Valet and the other is a smuggler now.
Another chaos character would be nice. a human cult leader/prophet would round out the chaos roster.

Just finished my 2nd playthrough, first with the two DLCS. The arbiter dude sucks. The story was aight. Void Shadows was much better.
I'm honestly not a fan of embedding the DLC so deeply into the story, because I don't want to do a 60 hour playthrough anytime I want to see the DLC stuff. Hope it'll be different for season 2 DLCS
>>714975987My hope is that dlc 4 isnt an expansion but fixes issues with act 5 and adds more content to the chaos/heretic path
>>714976585Well you're in the minority then since it was a common complaint with early pathfinder DLCs that it wasn't woven into the story and was mostly standalone.
Every review of lex says it's not as good as the first dlc but then every outlet said void was owlkeks best dlc and a crpg great. So is lex itself good or not?
>>714975987My turbo cope and hope is that they focus on the companions we already have because a lot of them are barebones as fuck with shit endings/quests
But an Ork would be fun, maybe some kind of abhuman like an Ogryn or Ratling
I'm fond of Tau but I don't think they'd make a good one
>party member is literally a schizo
>>714976862yeah it's good just a let down in comparison. Most the complaints are that the spacecop and his story aren't as engaging or interesting as the deathcult and pantthieves. the mechanical stuff the DLC adds is a nice addition with no big issues.
I don't have to minmax or look for builds if I play on Daring? I finished Kingmaker and Wotr on Core.
>>714970979Rogue trader but you'll be thrown off by the power progression. You'll be ok though. Would recommend bg3 or dao2 though
>>714977137You don't have to utterly minmax but just have some idea of what you're doing.

>>714977137I'm playing for the first time on Daring and so far this game is really fucking easy compared to the PF games. Just got to Footfall
>>714977124There definitely feels like there is less content too
>>714977137Nah. just understand that the 40k RPG system is all about alpha strikes and hitting as hard as possible as fast as possible.
there's no prebuffing or anything like that but fights tend to snowball hard one way or the other by design, long drawn out slugfests are rare unless the encounter is specifically made for that.
The game give you a last chance hail mary with the momentum system if you're losing which even further pushes the combat to be about either killing everything as hard as possible or getting you're ass whipped untill you can kill everything in a turn.

Bring it down is one of the best abilities in the game since you can give a damage dealer another 2 action points and it's heroic/desperate version, Finest hour, is just a full turn with all Action Points/Move points restored.
So yeah officers are pretty fucking good. One companion, probably the most busted in the game, already comes preskilled as a officer as well.
>>714977698Officer is one of the strongest classes in the game, go Officer Psyker with Sanctic for even more buffing and then in Act 2 you also have the option of nuking enemies with the strongest damage ability in the game from a Sanctic Staff you can find as early as Act 2 begins
Just grab Decisive Response, Focus, Personal Oversight talents, then Air of Authority, later Shield & Hammer of the Emperor powers and have someone like Argenta kill everything

All the problems people have with act 3 has nothing to do with act 3, they are just pissy that act 1 and 2 didn't diver on what it set up.
Act 3 in a vacuum is decent.
>>715013602Losing all your gear and having to get party members back is always going to be annoying for most
>>715013602In general the game has an issue delivering payoffs because the plotline is a mess
The chaos part ends in such an uncerimonious way I actually thought "wait, that's it? Really?" when I finished eufrates
The real villain all along wasn't acting against you or anything, he doesn't even try to kill you in the 4 entire acts. There is no real "main antagonist", there are several, but none of them are actually the main climax.
>>715013602Act 3 is fine once you got your gear back and aren't coughing every three steps. A different method of entry that doesn't result in a "no gear level" and the Act would probably be better than Alushinyrra.
>>715013602>No exploration unlike Alushinyrra, it's just a C shaped area in-between arena fights>Barely any side quests outside of re-recruiting your companions >Barely any NPCs to interact with>"dude you lose all your gear and companions that's so cool you're completely outclassed!" doesn't mean shit because you quickly get your gear again >That absolutely fucking garbage cough that's even worse than Alushinyrra's camera gimmickYeah no, it sucks
>>715013861>There is no real "main antagonist",Big big problem with many modern crpgs. Pillars of Eternity 2 was the same. A true villain who has their own cutscenes and comes in to fuck with the protagonist along the way is always more memorable. I hope Dark Heresy gives us a main villain or at least a rival Inquisitor that we butt heads with multiple times.
I only wish there was less fucking LOADING
>Expanse game
>everyone looks like a top model stacy or gigachad
>Dark Heresy
>everyone looks loathsome outside of the Corsair guy
what did Owlkek mean by this
>>715015291What kinda setups are you guys using that load times are an issue. This isn't Wrath.
>>715015479Do you actually play other crpgs because it may not be as bad as Wrath but owlcat has the worst amount of loading screens for any crpg dev.
>>715015479Long or not, there are too many of them
>>715015291https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f55RlA9mVec
>>715015563I do. I might be biased because I just got done with several playthroughs of Wrath before returning to RT with Lex and the difference is like night and day.
I finished my first playthrough today and I'm really impressed by the enemy variety in this game. Usually in 40k games you get one chaos faction and one xenos faction to fight again but here we have all flavors of chaos, 3 major xeno factions and some minor xeno encouters as well and some cool renegades that are traitors to the Imperium but not chaos aligned
Really strong showing for their first 40K game I hope they keep this up with Dark Heresy as well
>mfw Emperor's Miracle rumour slaps you into a fight against three Chaos boys and a Helbrute.
>>715015825That one surprised me cause I don't remember it from my first playthrough. They still all die like chumps obviously, but still.
>>715015793I didnt notice because I just killed them all in one turn after like the first planet of act 2
>>715015903HB kicked the shit out YurrLEET. Thank god for Argent(in)a. Kick stun is annoying though.
>>715015291100% agree
>>715015479I have a decently fast PC and still see it as problem because of how much the loading interrupts gameplay
The worst instances come from traveling on the Koronus map, getting a story flag, loading on the bridge, loading a different room to talk to the NPC, loading back on the bridge, loading back on the star chart, traveling to your new quest location, loading the planetary map
That's at least 5 loading screens to START a sidequest
>>715015479It's not long, but they are everywhere
>go to map>go to new system>go back out of system>go to ship>go to different ship section or NPC forces you thereQuetza Temer is the fucking worst in this regard
>>715016101Well yes, that's true. The actual number of loading screens is rather silly.
>>715016089I might have found the fight slightly more challenging had I not found out about the Executioner cheese for large hordes by that point.
40k sucks gay ass. When are they going to make a proper Old World rpg
for example, I will literally not bathe in my quarters because it's locked behind 2 loading screens
Sorry but I shall stink

>>715016394old world, huh. basically any rpg ever made should scratch that itch desu
>>715016394WHF is dead, and from the way GW is treating it, Old World ain't gonna last long either.
>>715016501Him, or Kibbles, or the RT. Seeing how all you need is one Carnival upgrade and the goggles (or their upgraded version).
>>715016503 where are the guns
where are the rats
>>715016606are those googles that good
>>715016941wold you rather use the bings
>>715016941They are strong, especially the upgraded one that only needs 6 stacks. But the real fun begins once you get the trinket that boosts your medicae by 10 (or 15?) with every kill. And then suddenly everything on the map gets repeatedly hit for ever increasing direct damage. In that Hellbrute fight, literally only the Hellbrute itself was still alive with like 30% health, along with a CSM with 5%. All from one Carnival.
>>714915797You can thank their shit writing and spaghetti code for that
>>714959161I liked it better than void shadows. More fun locales, more fun quests, better boss battles. Both are very good though, it's a matter of taste

Finished the game recently, damn Void Shadow mog Lex Imperialis so hard its not even funny.
>Blade dancer twirling like a stupid weeb is fun

>shotguns have to pick the double barreled one to finally achieve power and that shit is not even properly modeled
>Solomon plot is just a shitty Imperium Administorium corruption scheme
>Void Shadows you fight a fucking GENESTEALER CULT
Also I remember they said they were doing a collab with Darktide, I saw the stupid shovel and pile of corpses in chapter 1, is the arbites class a Owlcat contribution to darktide or did Fatkike pull a no effort collab over Owlcat?
It's crazy how many items in the game are permanently missable or exclusive, many of which are either best in slot or extremely powerful additions
>Bloodrinker Staff>Spirit Drape talisman>Malpian Shroud cloak>House Novator Staff>Crescendo Shotgun>Eyes of Joyeuse helm>Witch Collector passiveetc.
>>715018773Operative has one of the strongest damage boosters in the game, Tides of Excellence
Its main weakness is less attacks/offensive actions/turn than most other classes but that has been salvaged through Overseer with Raven or Eagle, but especially Raven if Psyker Operative + Strategic Adaptation Power which can be cheesed on Extra Turns + all the extra attacks from relaying through Raven or using Eagle
It DOES have one of the shittest Finest/Desperate in the game, but Overseer also salvages that especially if Raven
>>715018836Yes but you'll need Xeno Weapon proficiency for the best one in Act 2 when you recruit Jae, otherwise you have to rush for Explorators Rep since they also have a very nice Las rifle
Even then Caligos gifts you another amazing Xeno Las Rifle at the end of Act 2 so yeah grab Xeno/Aeldari Proficiency
>>715019274>>Arbites barely has any signature abiltiesIt's the second origin with the most abilities, after psyker obviously
>>715018361>>715018779To add, I don't 100% understand how exactly the two interact either, but I got a rudimentary idea:
Say you got 40 enemies, you activate Carnival and spread all dots. What happens now is the game counts the first 6 enemies that get dots applied and triggers the visor. The baseline damage is ~25 DIRECT damage depending on how well you pumped Medicae beforehand. Then the next 6 get counted and the visor triggers again, for another ~25 damage. Chaff enemies tend to die at this point and you get 2xResolve to your medicae for EACH death, and suddenly the visor damage jumps to 50 or 60 or more, depending on high you pumped the Execs Resolve (and don't forget they got a talent that boosts resolve with each kill, too). And then it just keeps chaining until the room is dead.

The googles at least are Act 2 from a faction, right?
Same for the Reagent Pack from the Footfall Mutant place
>>715019316>Eyes of Joyeuse>Crescendo Shotgun>Blood Drinker StaffActually managed to snag those. Neat.
Also
>Aeldari weapon proficiencyEhhh.
I was thinking more along the lines of imperium lasguns, bit considering most of them are peashooters in comparison, I guess that's my only option.
Unless I vault Sworn Protector/Assault Lasguns.
>>715019328They are all passives, ok you can parry with ranged weapons and use them as Attack of Opportunity, besides that everything else entered general pool like Shields and related feats.
I just dont remember if shotgun talents are Arbites exclusive.
>>715019481The accessory, yes. But even without it you just need to hit a critical mass of enemies and you still wipe half the map. The accessory just drastically reduces the amount of enemies needed.
And there are two, the Goggles from Act 2 and the Visor from I believe Act 4. The goggles need slightly more stacks than the Visor.
You are probably better off clearing maps the normal way before act 2. Not like Executioners have any problems with that.
>>715019501imperium lasguns
The problem is the scaling of those
You have Longlas in Act 1 which is amazing
Then in Act 2 you're stuck forever with the Deadly Repeater from Explorators, and that does take a lot of Rep so you'll have to to some content first stuck with Longlas which is starting to really lack in damage, while Jae just instantly gifts you an amazing Aeldari one
Act 3 has literally nothing
Deadly Repeater at least is very good
Is there any good Aeldari weaponry feels like I'm forced to spec Yrlet with Drukhari stuff going totally against RP and lore if you have no plans to corrupt her. Same issue with Ulfar either Flamers or Heavy Bolter.
>>715019719The best ones for her are all Aeldari, anon.
Jae gifts the best one for Act 2 as soon as you recruit her
protip: Killing Edge from Assassin reduces to cost of it to just 1 or 0 AP if Backline + Fire at Will from Pasqal as Grand Strategist
Then you get the other best one at the end of Act 2 from Calligos during the Coronation event
>>715019694Hmmm. Shame.
They should probably add something to scale with the later chapters. I don't want to have to rely on space elves for good gear, but if that's what it takes. Thanks for the info.
