What's bugging you? The y7 story is decent and well executed. While I think of ichiban as bad replacement for kiryu, he's a well written and relatable character. His va is awesome.

He was on vacation and called by the Daidoji to do a mission while there. It's literally explained by his handler showing up and saying "did you do your thing?" (The ring Yumi gave and desired to go to Hawaii to marry for).
