The protagonists are murderers and cannibals who sacrifice people to demons, with their only solace being their relationship, which ultimately amounts to trauma bonding, with the two feeding off each other's toxicity. The "good ending" here would probably be both of them dying together as an act of love like in one of those edgy romances or some shit.

In my opinion, the ending should go like this:

They realize the love of incest, despite being seriously wrong, would not outweigh the fact that they might die if they give up on each other (due to various factors). They embrace life and decide to have a family with each other even if somewhat dysfunctional (So, functional enough to survive perhaps.)

But enough about my fanfiction, it will be all to the cat author and her crazy ideas

Yes.
The devs just made the bad route first for money reasons.
Most players quit these games after getting the good ending.

Now that i think about it...if the author isn't carefull, the game might lose relevance (since we are kinda starting to, per one of the main draws of the game, the memory of Covid.)
