Massive amounts of undiagnosed brain damage. The autopsy on his brain said it was the equivalent of someone like 90 years old with advanced dementia.

The marriage was also completely fucked and people think his son's rare medical condition had something to do with it.
A perfect storm, some would say. Unless you think Kevin Sullivan did it because he played a satanist on tv, though those truther guys do point out a couple odd things.

I couldnt believe it. I remember just watching him the night before and my friend dropping the news at the school bus stop the next morning. That following episode of Smack Down fucking broke me.

when Benoit died I remember the kids on the playground saying he killed his family with his chokehold finishing move, which is pretty funny to think about
also kek what a bitch crying over Eddie dying
>>714927636 >benoit would talk to an eddie doll he took with him everywhere he went in his car
Yeah he definitely killed his family, the cracks were already showing but no one wanted to acknowledge it.

Yes. He and Eddie had been abusing steroids for so long (because Vince wouldn’t push them if they didn’t get bigger) that even if they hadn’t both passed away when they did, they likely weren’t going to live much longer.

idk man some of those 80s guys are pretty okay today, it was probably getting so fucked up on pills and the constant damage jumping around all the time. plus their old japan matches were stiff as fuck.
but i doubt they were making it past 50. which seems to be the median range for old washed up wrestlers's hearts exploding
I appreciate that Kurt just came right out and said some of the best work he ever did in the ring was with Benoit. People don’t have to forgive the man or make excuses for his actions, but erasing him from history also erases a lot of other people’s accomplishments and hard work.

Roiders all eventually have a meltdown of some sort, that and taking too many bumps to the head really fucked him up good. Nancy and the kid just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and when it was all over chris knew the only way out was to an hero.

Most of them aren’t. Assuming they aren’t dead or popping painkillers like Pez dispensers, chances are they live in chronic pain and failing health. That era of wrestling took from everyone. I still can’t believe it took then like 50 years to realize “Oh, smashing someone’s fucking skull with a steel chair at full force is actually bad.” Even without knowing what we know now about concussions and brain damage, how the fuck could anyone think that’s a good idea?

the Raw before he did it is pretty weird too, ends with Vince McMahon dying in a limo explosion after creepily walking past the entire roster standing around for no reason
which sounds a lot funnier than it was
