Because they never would've stood by him and helped him if they had known his plan from the start was always to destroy the canvas. It was a necessary evil, and we as a player come to sympathize with him and love him. He is suffering kino the character. PVerso sacrificed more than anyone else in the entire game.

Lie by omission is a thing but the others had no claim they were owed the intel. In addition we know painted Renoir and Verso (who have opposite objectives) tried to share the information in the past and it was a mess in any case.
Note that even not counting Renoir, at least painted Alicia, Esquie and Monoco also knew and didn't say anything because they all agree with Verso.

The plot falls apart very fast and I don't understand what the fuck the message was that the devs wanted to put out there. Too much grief is bad? It's poorly done. The game was fun but the story kinda shit itself on Act 3. Verso literally caused every problem himself. Had he worked together with painted Renoir and Alicia to bring back real Alicia's memories, they could have worked together to basically save the painted world and work together to kick Aline out so she wouldn't fucking kill himself. That way, Renoir wouldn't have to go nuclear. That was literally all they had to do and there would be some kind of message there how Alicia worked together with the fake Painted family to save her real one. But no, it just had to be ridiculous family drama.

Not bad for their first game, but they need better writing.

why would Verso work with pRenoir? One wants to set her mother free and kill himself (w/c Aline will never allow) and the other wants to enable her indefinitely and continue existing.
It is exactly that they cannot work together and there is motivation and character traits behind it, that there is proof that the game has good writing.

If you do the side content you should have pumped Lumiere up with the difficulty modifiers. Play Renoir with x1000 HP and damage and he destroys the party 10x harder than Simon.

Idk if the anon will read this but I feel like posting it anyway. The info I have is month old and idk what the current situation is. The script is in its very, very early version so I imagine they will work on it before anything else (70% of the E33 was cut so it's probably gonna take a while to get there). For now, they're chilling and bugfixing, but an expansion to endless tower with chromatic Simon and Dualiste is coming. No plans for story dlc in the near future tho

the members of the family are all representations of the 5 stages of grief
Aline as denial choosing to live in a fantasy world with her fake family even at the cost of her own life
Clea anger spitting venom at her family for the ways they all choose to grief and being consumed by revenge
Alicia/Maelle bargaining with Renoir to keep the canvas despite them both knowing she is going to get lost in it the same way he and Aline did
Renoir being depression just broken by not only his sons death but the rest of his family all losing themselves in their own ways having to use brute force to try and fix it
and then painted Verso just wanting the acceptance of death doing everything he can to stop existing

Man, I really loved the writing in this game and the way it approached the topic of life and death and coping with the pain which is something that's always in the back of my mind and depresses the fuck out of me.
Seriously though how do you cope with the inevitably of death not just from a personal point of view but when it comes to losing loved ones?

I've lost people decades ago who i loved very much, I thought the pain would eventually go away but it never did
It's always there especially with the ones alive who I care about and love dearly

Everyday you realize how fragile life is and pain is always lurking until one day the inevitable happens.
