Unironically what went wrong with the Senran series
>>714919482 (OP)The games needed more polish look at how zzz handles their models.
it ran its course. it lasted 14 years, which is 13 more than they planned to give it
The games suck. It would've died regardless of SIE's interference.
The games didn't suck, but they did improve at a very slow rate, which would've eventually caught up to them if they kept making games for the handhelds.
>>714919482 (OP)Classic case of serviceable to good series killed by suits.
>>714919482 (OP)SK doesnโt offer anything better than other hack and slash games like DMC or NG. The characters in-game have no ass either.
Should have partnered with Koei Tecmo for a real musou with DOA tech
>started on 3DS as an Ikkitousen inspired character story focused traditional beat-em-up with some light fanservice that just has girls in swimsuits
>gets a spin-off Vita musou game with heavier fanservice that goes to full nudity and some goofier stories
>gets an anime adaption at the same
>series gets a big boost in exposure from this and starts getting more attention
>3DS sequel announced alongside another set of Sony spin-off games coming later
>3DS game returns to it's roots with beat-em-up gameplay and lighter fanservice, since that was stuff for the non-canon spin-off
>large part of the fanbase came from the Vita game so fans feel alienated and the game does poorly
>devs retcon the sequel and establish the upcoming Sony spin-off game as the new main series canon; focus is on musou gameplay and raunchier fanservice
>release an OVA with uncensored nipples alongside the new game to further solidify the series lewder identity
>tease a new main-line sequel that is meant to unify the split plot-lines between the 3DS games and the spin-offs
>tout how it'll push the graphics and lewd content of the series further than it ever has
>Sony enacts new censorship heavy policies, series producer states they've had to restart the development because of this
>series is about to go through another identity change crisis, producer quits over frustration with this
>new mainline game becomes vaporware and the series stays in gacha hell where the market is safe and easy
The constant flip-flopping of the series identity and the slow death of ecchi games on console in the last decade is what killed it. Gacha soaked up pretty much the entire user market for ecchi so it just doesn't make sense to make fanservice games anywhere else now. Though I really think the biggest factor was just how often they changed direction.
