My steam games usually launch if I hit the exe from inside the directory. If steam tries to open I just go into offline mode, if I remember right. Haven't actually had this issue in a while.

This one is off schedule. I'm only in this thread because I wanted to check if it was a 'me' issue. Normally Steam says "no connection" during the weekly maintenance that is at the same time every week.
