He had the meter to kill but didn’t, he went for the DP follow up that put him in the least advantageous position by sending the Hakumen full screen, he went for an unsafe 24 frame overhead option when he didn’t have a proper knockdown and he decided to play aggressively against a character with temporarily infinite meter instead of staying back and playing it safe. Hell you could argue that it was a mistake to let Hakumen reach that point where he has access to his 100 meter win condition with the maximum amount of OD time. Not him but I disagree, I think you underestimate how many fellow new players there and greatly overestimate how good they are and how much time it takes to get to an average level. Especially in more populated games like SF. I picked up SFV very late in it's lifespan, a game with less players than 6 and which had no placement matches, and I played against people that literally just held forward at me and pushed buttons when they got close. I got into fighting games as an adult and I've watched other friends pick them up. It is not as hard as you think it is.

That being said, fighting games are at least somewhat inherently competitive and if you don't like comp games at all and don't have any friends interested in picking them up with you then, fair enough, you're probably not going to enjoy them and they likely aren't for you.
