God what made tr4 so comfy?

2. I was one of the kids whining there wasn't enough shooting in the first game and so they gave it to me. For better or worse.

3. London levels. I kek at the n00bs who think it's too hard. Shit's comfy beyond belief.

This was probably why there were only animals in the first area of TR3.

1. Antarctica from TR3.

Tomb Raider 3 objectively has the best levels in the entire series. It is also simultaneously the best game in the entire series and the most flawed.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The jungle level

Not that I don't see any flaws, but what in your opinion are they anon? It's my favorite game in the series also, but I would say either 1 or 4 are the best in the series. 3 to me is meant for the hardcore fans, which just filters most people by default.
Anonymous No.714954197 [Report] >>714954521
I'm replaying 3 and just did the River Ganges both routes 100% shenanigans. I missed an insane amount of items and secrets on my first playthrough, a lot are just "how was I supposed to know that?" tier but that's why I do a second run with a guide. It's fun.

Tomb Raider 1. Everything to do with Atlantis, first game I ever played that genuinely scared me but I felt compelled to keep going until I beat it
I love the first 4 OG style TR games, though.
Anyone have any recommendations for custom levels? Iirc there's a shitload of them

Somehow I found all secrets in 1-5 without guides. I would only recommend going for this if you're a huge TR fan but it was comfy to do back in the day. TR4 was a nail biter since I had no way of knowing how many secrets were in each level. All of the branching paths make it annoying though.

>>714954521
I missed just four or so on my blind TR2 run, that game was much more straightforward. 3 though, some levels are pure chaos like the first one in London. I barely got my bearings enough to finish them, let alone find all secrets.

doubt. you got the uzis in sanctuary of the scion without a guide?

Not that anon (I'm >>714954614) but I did. I saw the floating item and figured out if it wasn't a bug, it had to be an invisible platform. Granted, I was playing Remastered so I have no idea how visible the Uzis may have been on PS1/old PCs with the original graphics and resolution.

Kids these days will never know the sheer kino of climbing the great pyramid in TLR in the final hours of 1999.
Anonymous No.714955867 [Report]

that was my point, they weren't visible back in the day. and this isn't even the most obscure secret in the series.

TR1 (also liked the anniversary level)
St Francis’ Folly

its such a good standout amazing level

Yes. I also sussed out the glitched one toward the end of the game. If you skip the other secrets before that one it actually chimes.
The hardest secret in the series for me was the switch hidden behind the bush in the sundial room of Palace Midas. I was stuck for so long I resorted to pressing X against every wall in the entire level. Nearly SHAT myself when I saw her doing the switch pulling animation.

As a kid i remember liking that there was more shooting, but going back to it it's fucking awful and ruins the game for me
I need to play 4 at some point because i never played it as a kid and i hear good things. But for now 1 is my favourite, easily

I remember as a kid playing 3, starting that one level where you start on a beach and being like wow... this is the future of gaming. And i just hung out in that area for a while feeling cosy before moving on.

1 was the best and the second best game of 1996, after that it started to become more about Lara Croft then the unique atmosphere that only the first game had.

Has anyone else tried the retroachievements? The "Extreme Raider" cheevos for TR1 are utter bullshit but some of them are fun.

yay, another OG tomb raider thread!
its good to see my TR buddies still enjoying the classics
i really do wish they went back to the design fundamentals that made the original such a hit or that an indie dev made a spiritual successor but that'll never happen... :(

I played the shit out of TR4 as a teenager, as did my dad who normally hated video games.
I haven't played the remaster yet, but I did play the remasters of TR 1 and 2, and feel that TR1 was the better game.
I kind of want to avoid replaying TR4 in case it's not as great as I remember.

First one. No contest. Remasters with the Gold modpack are pretty good tho. Shame the company remastering then it's absolute dogshit so I won't even bother with remasters of 4-6 for at least s year.

My dad played the shit out of Tomb Raider, he'd always be sat there calling Lara Croft a stupid bitch whenever she didn't do what he wanted. Fond memories
>>714967089
Are we talking about the ship section? I dropped 2 when i got there, the pressure of those two guys chasing you makes it hard to realise what you've gotta do there and by the time i realised i just didn't want to play any more. That previous Venice level in the theatre or w/e was absolute shit too
Anonymous No.714972068 [Report] >>714972260
it seems like a lot of people have parents who played tomb raider, which is interesting
even when the vidya industry was far smaller than it is today even much older age groups were enjoying it
