Because the industry can't afford to have true exclusives anymore. Production has become so expensive that restricting your potential customerbase to a single platform is financially unsound.
unless you're Nintendo have legions of manchildren who will buy your slop no questions asked

Retards went all in on live service only to backfire on them. Reminder that they had originally 14 live service games in production only to cut them by more than half because they were all shit. And the one's that came out bombed. Marathon already flopped before even being released.

too lazy to google them but is the number accurate?

AAA investors shun the risk, was discussed here yesterday. Checks out with the info that Snoy will skip exclusives, too.

I've heard 12, but yeah, Sony had a lot of GaaS in development at the same time. One of them was a Spider-man game. Another is Fairgames.

Anonymous No.714961757 [Report]
Sony missed their shot at establishing forever games like Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox. They kept investing in expensive AAA experiences like it was still the PS4 days. The games are turning into games platforms themselves.
Anonymous No.714961818 [Report] >>714963116
probably because of how high graphical fidelity has gotten it takes way too fucking long to make a game. it took 6 years to make the last of us part 2. That's almost an entire console generation

You know GTAO is pretty big and Rockstar bought FiveM few years ago. It certainly is not just about the single player. They want to encourage and monetize custom content like Roblox.

if they do then I bet they'll make a success as long as the game is playable and not a steaming pile of buggy/glitchy mess.

Bro what? GTAO the game that had massive loading times no matter the hardware until some random dude fixed it? The game that was absolutely rampant with hackers, even on console, for years? To this very day GTAO has desync issues. Did you actually play the online mode? I am confused as to how you had a bug free experience here buddy.

There's 80 million PS5 users, it's not limiting at all
And we know steam users don't buy games at full price, it's always until it's 5 bucks so there's no profits to be had with them
Anonymous No.714963686 [Report]

Sony's profit margin is actually quite low because they don't get 100% being a third party machine and PC is taking over that role and Nintendo is now market leader on the console market. Sony's bet on few but big games gamble didn't pay off. Sony was forced to port their games to PC because they needed the money
>Nintendo typically maintains higher profit margins than PlayStation. Nintendo's operating margins often exceed 30%, sometimes reaching 40% during the Switch's lifecycle, while PlayStation's margins have generally remained below 20%. For example, in the last fiscal year, Nintendo's operating margin was 40.71%. Sony's (which includes PlayStation) net profit margin as of March 31, 2025, was 8.83%
The reason why this happens is because generally Nintendo owns their franchises 100% so they make 100% of the money, there's some exceptions to this like Pokemon

There's literally billions of PC users. Most of Europe for example is heavily PC-only, and Asia has been mobile + PC for decades now.

Also, like the articles posted above show, PC generates so much cash, even with the insane sales the devs instantly multiply their console-only income within the first few months. Or faster.
People really seem to think that releasing a digital copy of a game would cost something in 2025...

>Capcom has revealed that revenue generated through Steam grew by 61.1% in the past fiscal year (April 2024 to March 2025), reaching roughly $366 million USD. This accounts for 31.1% of Capcom's total revenue. Moreover, these figures are based on Capcom's companywide revenue (meaning revenue from other businesses like amusement facilities is included), but when looking at Capcom's digital entertainment business separately, Steam accounted for 42.1% of revenue.
>On the other hand, it seems that sales generated through PlayStation have decreased. In the previous fiscal year, PlayStation accounted for 10.5% of total (companywide) revenue, while this year, the figure has been omitted from Capcom's reports due to it slipping below 10%.

Those are basically no longer a thing since the era of the PS4. Which are great news for PC gamers that can keep their libraries forever rather than keep wasting money on remasters every time a new console comes around because they won´t even give retro compatibility. You can literally play more playstation games through emulation on a PC than you can on an actual playstation console. It´s ridiculous.

Some would argue consoles are way cheaper than a gaming PC but that´s not necessarily true once you account for steam discounts and not having to pay online subscriptions. And lets not even address the elephants in the room that are piracy or the fact that there is a lot of other things a gaming PC can do.

There is absolutely no reason to support SONY and his anti consumer practices. None.

Compared to console peasants that are lucky to get even one (1) new exclusive a year, which they ditch after beating it once, only to return back to Minecraft / Fortnite / Valorant for the 700th time?

And let's not even get to the subject matter of games like PUBG already clocking 1 billion registered players a day on Steam alone, 10 years ago.
