I have raised that as an issue with these two.

They could mate and have kids but where would that leave their kids? They're stranded in a reality where they're the only members of their species.

Well it kind of is. The Royal Family traditionally names their daughters "Zelda." But when it came time for Wild Zelda to fulfill her role, she couldn't. She could see The Goddess in her dreams but couldn't hear her voice

>I had a dream last night... In a place consumed by darkness, a lone woman gazed at me, haloed by binding light. I sensed she was...not of this world. I don't know if she was a fairy or a goddess, but she was beautiful. Her lips spoke urgently, but her voice did not reach me. Would I have heard her if my power was awoken? Or was my dream simply a manifestation of my fears? I am sure I will know the answer soon, whether I wish to or not...

Zeldas are descended from previous Zeldas, while Links just show up and are usually unrelated to previous Links. It isn't incest once they are distant enough cousins, or else every relationship in the real world would be incest.

I'm pretty sure each Link is just a random guy, not a descendant of previous Links.
Links just appear throughout the ages. Same with Impa, Dampe and whoever else has appeared in multiple games. Maybe it's a reincarnation thing.

Pretty sure the Zonai are a post-Skyward-Sword thing. They didn't actually found OoT-era Hyrule.
The whole thing is, they forwarded the timeline from Wind Waker 10.000+ years with BotW, so that by BotW it's about 10.200 years AFTER Wind Waker, but at some point between Spirit Tracks and the backstory to TotK Hyrule was laid bare again, and then inhabited by the Zonai. The Zonai then founded "nu-Hyrule" which is the nu-lore that permeates nu-Zelda games. A soft-reboot if you will.
But it's still connected back to the original Hyrule, and Zelda and Link are both blood descendants ultimately, of Skyward Link and Skyward Zelda.

After Tears in pretty sure the timeline is a crock of shit. But the series is very consistent in that Zelda is always a bloodline inheritance while Link's are just random guys who are courageous at heart

In Wind Waker they state he is not blood-related to the Hero of Time, so that checks out. But TP-Link is, and Zelda is too, but that game implies no romanticism between the two, and OoT Link ended up boning Malon.
My headcanon is that Hero of Time actually went missing in the future-canon as a result of getting removed forcibly by the Goddesses after he broke through OoT-Zelda's hymen, and that's why Link had to be reborn from scratch and the entire Zelda world had to restart. Otherwise post-OoT-future canon would've been full of malformed retards, but that's kinda what they look like in TP. It seems there's maybe a 50/50 chance that you get the recessive genes in that timeline.

Daily reminder link has never has a father.

He's had an "uncle" who probably isn't blood related and a grandma in wind waker

The idea that every link and zelda are distant relations isn't so far fetched as royal family trees are fucking huge so link's father could be zelda's sixth cousin twice removed and be basically unrelated

You do realize you're related to all other humans on planet earth, right OP?

If the degree of separation between Lino and Zelda is 10000+ years, they might as well be more genetically distant than you and whoever your future girlfriend will be (if you ever get one), unless she's like, pure blooded asian or African.

Thanks to Fujibayashi's retcons in Skyward Sword, Link is an artificial knight soul made by Hylia, which she sends to reincarnate whenever necessary and then manipulates events around people he cares about to urge him into action.
>Helmaroc King catching Aryll
Hylia's masterplan

you know how you have a mom and dad
a generation takes let's say 25 years
so 5000 years was 200 generations ago
your mom and dad both had their own mom and dad, so 2 generations back you have 4 ancestors
how many ancestors did you have 200 generations back
there weren't that many humans in existence
you are inbred

I agree. Tears seems to be a retelling of skyward to me since it hits a few of the big narrative beats. A Hero from the sky, the origins of the Master sword, the origins of ganon, that ancient robot civilization, time travel shenanigans . My theory of course has some big holes. No mention of the birds that appear in hylian sybology, the written history found on the zora murals, the different races found between games.

Let's say you're immortal, Elf style. (That is to say, eternally youthful but will still die to having a sword go in your brain).

You have a child with some woman, maybe you love her, maybe you don't, irrelevant.

How many generations later, (assuming no meddling), does it take to no longer count as "incest"?
>Grandfather
Incest, clearly
>Great Grandfather
Still incest
>Great-Great-Great-Great Uncle Thrice Removed
Incest?

Socially yeah I guess it's all incest, but I wonder how far genetically you need to go to reach "safe" distance? If you're truly immortal and have a kid even every hundred years or so, as those kids have their own children, in theory won't it reach a point where basically every single person in a region is related to you somehow? And that's just assuming you are the only immortal, in elf society pretty much everyone is going to be related and the Elven Musical Instrument of choice would be the Banjo alongside traditional elven garb of overalls and flannel shirt.
