Netflix is most comparable to Gamepass, not Steam.
Steam is a service for developers to sell their digital games and goods to the consumer, no subscription fee's, the few ad's that exist are for popular AA or AAA titles launching soon, etc.
Steam also hosts forums, and has light social media features and web forum features.
Netflix requires you to pay an excessive subscription fee to avoid ads, can's popular/ well made projects in favor of low-quality low effort slop that can be mass produced cheap, doesn't even consistently carry many shows or movies owned by other producers anymore, etc.
Maybe if Netflix actually allowed people to "purchase" copies of media that could be viewed in perpetuity without ads, regardless of membership the comparison would be equivalent, but it isn't.
