Blue Reflection
Fumio, the pianist.

I don't know where did MisterExtender found this image, or if he asked someone to make this art...in any case, it looks beautiful.

I said in a thread yesterday that none of the girls in Blue Reflection wear blue underwear, but I was wrong and I admit my mistake. Fumio is the only girl in Blue Reflection who wears blue underwear.

I'm saying all this because no one bothered to correct me, but yeah, Fumio wears blue underwear. >>714937304

Proof that Fumio wears blue underwear. Unless I'm still wrong and it's actually the color ''aqua'', in which case, I don't know if it matters much, aqua is like a shade of blue, if what she wears really is aqua...it's basically blue I think.

One has to admit that the Blue Reflection girls offer variety in underwear.

Oh my.

It really is a game that was released years ago, only the Gal*Gun games, two compile Heart games (Omega Quintet and Dark Rose Valkyrie) and School Girl Zombie Hunter can be compared to Blue Reflection, 3D games that don't just have pantyshots, they show you the full set. It's something becoming more and more rare of course. Senran Kagura doesn't count (those are swimsuits, for the most part).

Do you want to play a turn-based RPG? A game with a low difficulty? A game with only Japanese voices? A game with simplified mechanics or simple gameplay compared to other games in the same genre? A game where most characters are female characters? A game with a lot of piano music and artcore songs (almost like dubstep or electronic music)? A game with an emotional/bittersweet story? If you answered yes to at least two questions you may like this game. One could say that it's not a great game or anything but it's still enjoyable and some aspects are amazing.

This long reddit post is worth reading, and it has minimal spoilers at worst: https://www.reddit.com/r/JRPG/comments/1lf6gnq/blue_reflection_1_is_an_artistically_amazing_game/

Game has a somber and melancholic atmosphere and tone despite how cutesy everything is. It’s the first and only authentic “game about depression” that actually gets it right. Stellar music and sound design too, it’s what first grabbed me in the first place. Also Hinako has fat tits

That’s because it was never meant to be a franchise in the first place. The first game was a one and done kind of game, but Mel and only Mel wanted more out of the franchise so he pushed to have all the other stuff made. Him bending the knee to california was just him being forced to obey orders from above. Of course he doesn’t give a fuck about global audiences or censorship, he only wants to see young girls in underwear just like the rest of us. But california is a tyrant that forces devs to conform and stand in line. The answer to this is for Japan to encourage their home devs to stop catering so much to global markets and focus more on their loyal and longtime consumers right at home in Japan. Japanese devs trying to “Americanize” their franchises ultimately hurts both the studios and especially the gamers both in Japan and America. Americans buy Japanese games because they want to experience Japanese games. If Americans wanted Americanized games, they would buy American games. The Americans who complain about sexualization and problematic content in Japanese videogames are an extremely small minority of Americans who hold no value or power that concerns studios. Studios only listen to this small minority of haters because they choose to. Haters only have as much power as studios give them. If Gust really wants to appeal to Americans for whatever reason they should just make a whole new franchise instead of corrupting their longtime beloved franchises. Notice how terribly Atelier Yumia sold. This will become the standard if Japanese devs keep trying to reach a “global audience”.
As the saying goes, a game for everyone is a game for no one

How can you say that they wear plain panties? Do you think that the underwear here looks plain?

I omitted Mao's panties because looking at the image you posted, you probably consider them plain...but about all these?
Anonymous No.714989252 >>714990157

You're wrong.
Atelier Yumia sold like shit for the same reasons Doom The Dark Ages sold like shit: they tried to make a game that had omnidirectional appeal which is inherently impossible, so the end result was a bland piece of shit that pleased no one.

"Global audience" isn't the same as "maximum audience appeal" even when they may look similar at a first glance.

Atelier Yumia's real time combat born of a desire to appeal to Action RPG fans (which can't have any less on an overlap with RPG and crafting games fans; they may as well not belong to the same planet) was so hilariously bizarre.

Obviously it's about what he said, a person who wants to play a game where alchemy (crafing) is the meat and potatoes of the experience may not want to play a turn-based game, somehow it makes sense that most Atelier games are turn-based RPGs, the combat is secondary and it's all about the alchemy.

Ok, sounds cool. But what the variety of girls?
I always like anime with a bunch of girls so I can choose my favorite, but then I usually have to face the fact she might have hardly any screen time.
Do you play as just one girl, or have some kind of JRPG party, or switch between girls?

Like other artists, Mel Kishida's art is beautiful but may suffer from a case of ''same face syndrome''. I still love his art of course, and in my opinion, there is variety in the designs and to an extent, the personality of each girl.

Hinako is the only character you control outside of the battles, that said, Yuzu and Lime are also playable characters, during the battles at least.
