>>714989128>40 dollar generic headphones have infinitely better sound quality than the highest end gaming headsetsoh forgot to mention this but this is a common myth
audio tech has been the same ever since the 70s
people really believe that traditional audio companies have some sort of "advanced tech" that gaming companies can't achieve but this is nonsense
if your headphone has decent drivers anything from here is a sidegrade, you can go for studio quality that will allow you to have several drivers simultaneously for physical audio space, capability for multiple simultaneous playbacks, and neutral bass (which is considered by consumers low quality audio, they are all used to tuning bass up the roof), all of this is extremely expensive and budget studio headphones won't waste their budget with stuff like latency or virtual audio spaces
the vidya sidegrade goes in the opposite direction and makes choices that won't make sense for a studio but make total sense for vidya, such as amping the bass for your consoooomer media, having a virtual audio space (easier than implementing 3 other drivers and doubling the price of your headphone) and so on
vidya companies won't waste their budget with stuff like simultaneous playback from multiple devices because that's not relevant for a consumer
so yes, there is a legitimate market for gaming headsets, but you need to make sure you are buying something decent (like HyperX) and not some random chinese brand that just slapped a few LEDs on a $10 headphone and called it a day
