Lore-wise, Naoe is arguably the best Steath Assassin in the whole franchise since she's been raised in a Ninja village since a baby, and her dad was best friends with fucking Momochi Sandayu, which was based on Ishikawa Goemon, the equivalent of the West's Robin Hood and pretty much Naoe's godfather.
There's no way she loses any type of stealth based fight against any assaissin. Any other type of fight though, she'd get her wig split cause she *can't* fight

The best "Assassin" is technically Kassandra because she spent 2000+ years not only working behind the Hidden Ones, Assassins, Order of the Ancients, and Templars' backs, but she was never even really made known of until she made herself known. Realistically no one has topped anything she did throughout her life in terms of just how much she's been able to do without anyone even knowing she existed.

If you remove Kassandra from the equation then Altair is technically the best if you look at AC1-era Altair because he did all of the events of AC1 without ever being hit at all (Outside of that bit with Al Mualim) meaning he fought an entire army and escaped from multiple assassination targets without ever a single person being able to even land a single hit. It took until he got older that he was actually starting to falter, but Ezio in general had a significantly longer streak of being a successful Assassin in terms of actually actively assassinating people instead of falling to the Mentor role or his eventual exile like Altair did. From his teenage years until his last few years of life Ezio was actively fighting people whereas Altair only truly became an Assassin around his 20s until around his mid 30s or 40s before he got exiled and then was doing nothing really until then.

I would be fine with the dual protagonist thing if the game was designed around it from the get go, but in my run I basically used Naoe for the vast majority of the content, while Yasuke was for his specific missions and activities, raiding castles/fortresses whenever I was feeling more like charging in and genociding my way to the treasure box, and occasionally using him in story-specific missions when given the choice. It was kinda funny how gameplay-wise I was enjoying Naoe a lot more but story-wise I was way more interested in Yasuke.

Does that work in the expert stealth difficulty though? The enemies detect you way more easily that way, which made it fun to find alternate ways to sneak around as Naoe since rooftops were no longer those safe areas nobody would look at.

Naoe isn't an Assassin's (well at least backstory wise) she's a ninja, a spy and her field was only infiltration. She only becomes an assassin's out of hatred for Nobunigger for killing his dad and almost all her father figure like male relatives.

Yes but you have to be really FAR from your target because the AI has a ridiculously broken eagle vision in that mode, can see you by 50m away in bushes on daytime by slightly moving an inch. Thing is, you can already take down half of a castle by shooting arrows from the widows outside the castle walls, then you take down the bells from outside to avoid getting regional alert, then you find recharge point and sneak by.

What's impossible to do with Yasuke, any difficulties, is infiltrate INSIDE a Castle or Pagodas. Too heavy, elephant steps etc... So if you wanna complete for example the Kamon mission (Samurai clan flags retrieval) hidden in castles, you have to clear the castle as Naoe then switch to Yasuke (because all Kamons are hidden in big walls/door things and Naoe is a DYEL so she can't move them) and pray you didn't trigger a season change while switching because it auto respawns everyone you killed. Which is some fucking retarded and frustrating Ubislop mechanic ngl

I meant expert, haven't played the game since back when it came out, so I haven't really tried out the update shit, but expert was already kinda tough to get around, especially when some missions have you start on a rooftop where Naoe is easily visible, so I had to quickly get out of the area and plan another route. But yeah, I remember how I had to switch to Yasuke at the viewpoints just so he can get the items hidden behind heavy objects, it was pretty annoying but fortunately I never had the misfortune of triggering a season change upon changing characters, not sure if that's because I did it through the inventory menu rather than the world map.

More or less, what I liked about his story was his perspective as a foreign slave who was given a second chance at life by Nobunaga and had to adapt to Japan's politics and culture while growing to appreciate the land in spite of the wars and chaos currently going on. The fact that he was put in the position of an oppressor and ordered to massacre the Iga village in his first battle under the Oda, how he regrets that because he did to the Iga the same thing his slavers did with him and his family back then, his perspective on Nobunaga contrasting with Naoe's and other characters, I thought it was way more engaging.
My biggest gripe with how they handled Yasuke was that he was forgiven too fast and too easily by Naoe, in one scene she's understandably pissed at him and threatens to kill him for murdering her master and destroying the village, then the very next one she's all friendly with him as they make an oath and plan their attack on the Shinbakufu, I don't know why the fuck this was handled in such a bizarre way instead of her harboring resentment for him and this going away over time as they gradually become friends.

expert is quite easy though, with the right loadout just pick a tanto/kusarigama and you can steamroll through the game.

It's also introduced massive contradictions into how the Animus even works by allowing you to make choices at all. You shouldn't be able to choose between Kass and Alexios or Eivor and Havi. You should have to fully complete their memories to sync them or do it like how Origins did and make it so you use the other protagonist to fill in the blanks. Except it's not, especially after the fact. Odyssey's in-game explanation is handwavy at best to not pick a concrete character even at the expense of it making no sense whereas Valhalla and Jade have both concretely confirmed Kassandra was The Eagle Bearer and Alexios was Deimos.

They made it extremely clear that it picks the most stable DNA stream with the default option and the single gender option is the Animus placing a skin on the player and nothing else exactly like how the Animus multiplayer training does it for the students, or how Desmond turned into Haytham during the start of 3. The canon option in Valhalla is the default option and the epilogue itself makes this 100% clear by preventing Havi players from seeing Havi as Eivor at the end as she speaks with Odin.

Also, that's not the "choice" I meant here, I mean stuff like making dialogue choices or choices on who you have sex with. It would mean that you are not syncing with the ancestor's history, you are actively changing it leading to desyncs from the memory and total desync with the Animus. Black Flag's and 3's locations can be visited in Rogue. The Homestead and Boston are the major examples off the top of my head but I seem to recall you go to like one or two towns from Black Flag.
Bloodlines has you go to every major city from 1 albeit PSP-sized.
Unity starts with you in the finale location of Rogue if that counts.

Those are ones where you directly revisit the same areas in roughly the same time period. If you want to speak of not the same time period then the only one that comes to mind is Eivor visiting Connor's tribe in America in Valhalla and setting off him getting the Crystal Apple. I think it was more a mechanical compromise. The only way you could really enforce Naoe to do stealth is if you limited her combat ability so that she couldn't do like Odyssey/Valhalla and the second you fucked up start massacring everything with impunity. So they stuffed open combat into another character but they had to limit what he could do to not render the stealth character irrelevant.
Maybe if this was a midbudget Splinter Cell production they could just tell actionfags to fuck off we're making a stealth game, but AC? Nah.
