new game when? did they lose all their writers? its basically just a VN
>>714992268>>7149923603rd anniversary commemorative art from 2018
>>714992268>>7149924654th anniversary commemorative art from 2019
>>714992465>>714992590Seems like some sort of contradiction...
>>714992447The 2021 re-release seems to have sold very well. It's at 1.2 million units sold, making it the second best selling individual title in the series behind the Phoenix Wright Trilogy from 2019: https://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/business/million.html
But the original 3DS versions of TGAA1 and TGAA2 sold really shittily. So bad in fact that it is an absolute miracle that we even got a sequel, let alone an HD collection. If you are a fan of these games, you HAVE to read producer Yasuyuki Makino's tear-inducing blogpost about how depressed the team was that the games sold like shit on 3DS, and how impossible of a circumstance the HD remaster had to face: https://www.ace-attorney.com/great1-2/us/blog/blog6.html
Ryunosuke has to salute the new emperor, apparently.

Thank you for this thread even if DGS 1 sucked ass
Redeemed entirely by 2
>>714996975I'm currently halfway through Episode 5 of my DGS1 replay, and it's so much better than I remembered. I can now appreciate all the set-up and anti-climaxes in the story, the clues, and foreshadowing. I also forgot just how much of a character study DGS1 is, diving quite deep into Ryunosuke's struggles and emotions at any given time. By contrast, DGS2 is much more mystery focussed. I quite like the character focus of DGS1. The thematic core and setting of DGS1 also has a really nice vibe to it, while DGS2 gets more fantastical. I'm excited to start my DGS2 replay soon, to see how well it holds up divorced from its good twists.
I love those GAA arts so much
>>714996975DGS 1&2 should be viewed as one single game.Though 2 clearly didn't have as much budget
>>714991665 (OP)I wonder what Nuri Kazuya is up to these days. He should be the art director for more games instead of doing random capcom illustrations.
>>714997445>>714997753I can't get enough of his art style. The fact we haven't had a new game art directed by him for almost 10 years is a crime
I’m still surprised I didn’t get spoiled by the time I finally played and finished it. Even before it got released here. It’s wild that every AA is out and released in English now. (Except for Layton crossover, now that was amazing)
>>714991665 (OP)I'm still waiting on the spin-off with Asougi and Barok, what the fuck is Takumi even doing these days?
>>714997574I do wonder sometimes: considering most of TGAA2 was made during TGAA1's development, if you were to consider TGAAC as one whole game, would TGAA be one of the most expensive visual novels ever made? The game has over 100 characters that are 3D modelled, each hoving dozens of unique mocapped animations. As just a pure VN, surely there aren't many others that come close. Nearly 80 hours of playtime with new shit to show for it until the very end. 3 hours of orchestrated music. Dozens of 3D objects and environments. Extremely carefully choreographed 3D sequences. 2D Animated sequences. The only thing this game doesn't have going for it is full VA, which would easily put it's budget above any other VN.
>>714997687Probably had at least 2 games he was working on cancelled in the last 8 years. Maybe working on AA7 now, who knows?
>>714998353>The game has over 100 charactersHuh? No fucking way. really?
>>714997997I played the incomplete fan translation, so I knew a bunch about the game already, but it was so nice going into it blind, especially the second half of TGAA2 was such an insane rollercoaster.
AA seems to be doing better than every, all games available and seemingly selling well. We even got Ghost Trick. Probably a matter of time before PLvsAA and AA7
>>714998109Shu Takumi is probably laughing his way to the bank being paid by Capcom to write the Great Ace Attorney-themed voicelines for a FUCKING RICE COOKER!?

>>714998487Yes, If you just count all the 3D models. It has about 60 characters (not counting victims and characters only mentioned by name), but there's also jurors, bailifs, officers, wax works, and character variants (Nina Pavlova in her Grimesby Roylott disguise for example). If you count them all you end up well above 100 characters.
Still listen to the OST to this day, imo it's one of the best works, if not the best that came from "modern" capcom.
>>714999254Well shit, and here I thought they were being lazy when they reused some characters for the jurors. It's definitely gotta be pretty expensive.
Did the anon that posted the producer's blogpost deleted it? Either way no wonder it sold like shit, these retards decided to localize it only almost a decade later
>>715003634This should be the link to the blogpost. Also, to clarify, the Japanese 3DS version sold like shit, while the remaster sold really well. 1.2 million units for just the HD version
>>715006746why doesn't it upload this link... let me try again
https://www.ace-attorney.com/great1-2/us/blog/blog6.html
>>715001836Almost every juror gets reused. it's easy to forget how massive these games are though.
>>714991665 (OP)Jesus has it really been 10 years? I remember feeling really sad when I finished the last case because it was over.

>>714999541I'm replaying the games right now and I remember them so well considering its been 4 years. I used to be able to replay games every year and feeling like it was ages since last replay
>>714998353No way Hundred Line with its 100 endings isnt the biggest VN
>>714993443mfer cant read. its 2022. also post the rest
>>714991665 (OP)Best games in the series imo.
It may seem like a small change at first glance, but allowing multiple witnesses on the stand at the same time allows for a more flexible narrative.
>>715007930She has like 5 min of screentime
>>715007954plus the jurors. the games are so much more dynamic and lively. AA5&6 could never
>>715007930>>715008028I really feel like there was supposed to be another episode between 3 and 4 since her and her mother were rather unutilized despite their supposed importance. Courtney especially ended up being a red herring. She was shown in promo art as if she was going to be appearing all over the game but ended up just being a one-episode character.
